Recovery Cd?

Hello,
I have a recovery cd actually 2 i was wondering when i use those cds does it format the whole computer like i have 1 hard disk divided into 2 parts it came like that will it format the 2nd partition as well?

yes.. imo it will format the 2nd partition as well and bring the laptop back to factory state ( i.e. with 1 partition )

damn...
is there way to reset the system w/o losing the partition using the recovery cd?
I even have a 60gb external drive but its just not enough

only way is to take everything off the partition you want to keep and live with loosing the rest. Then use the recovery cd and then put back all of the things you kept.

Sorry kinda crappy but its all you can do if you want to redo the comp.

Otherwise if you just want a fresh copy of windows then use another windows cd and reinstall os.

As posted by Doomwookie earlier in the tips and tricks. There is a way to use the Ghost image of your recovery CD without formatting your hard drive. I have done it using this. My 60GB drive has five partitions and this trick will only install your Ghost image in the first partition.
