Dothan 1.8ghz vs Prescott 3.0ghz?

How much difference is this going to make towards games now and in the future? Basically every laptop i see comes in the same flavor of ram, hd, graphics and etc....so the key factor i'm trying to understand is the impact of the processor on my gaming, like we all know the battery life (with the right battery of course) of the dothans is f'amazing, but, will i'll be missing too much in pure gaming power that it's not worth to slack off in the cpu?

Can anyone shead any light on this for me..would be much appreciated?..Especially from multiple people so i can get a great sense of where the topic stands as a whole. Thanks

gaming isnt really limited by the processor, but rather the graphics card. so having a slower processor won't affect games all the much, assuming you have the same rest of setup. dothan 1.8 won't be all that much slower than the prescott. Might even be just as fast. im not the expert here. just lacking HT i guess. Go for the Dothan so you can identical performance (real like performace wise) as the prescott, while also running a lot cooler and longer.

There ya go. The dothan holds even with the Desktop chips, in everything except encoding and workstation ... but thats not gaming. In that it is pretty much even.

Go for the Dothan, better battery life, lighter/cooler, and not giving much up.

Keep in mind the biggest bottleneck for speed isn't always simply in the speed of the proc. I wouldn't be worried about using a Dothan for gaming.

Yes, sure. Don't be "wise", choosing a P-M, 1GB of PC2700 RAM and, after all, selecting ATI 9000 IGP
