vaans' 5670 benchmark and display problem

Thread Starter
These are my 5670 (I just bought it two weeks ago) benchmarks:

Spec :

Sager 5670, Ram 512, VGA ATI Radeon 9000 128 MB, HD 40 GB 5400 RPM, 2.4 GHz PIV

*PC Mark 2002 :

Direct X 8.1 :
CPU 5374
Mem 4678
HDD 490

Direct x 9 :
CPU 5845
Mem 4992
HDD 499

* 3D Mark 2003:
Score : 1045

*PCPitstop :
Score : 1183

*Sisoft Sandra:
CPU Multi Media 8966 & 11424
Memory bandwidth benchmark 18178 & 1812
CPU Arithmetic 6136 & 1307/2971

All drivers are standards (from CD).

Any idea why my benchmarking scores are low? Any advice for improvement? Is it useful if I change the video driver to Catalyst 3.2?

I have a problem with the display in this notebook. Sometimes there are a lot of short lines (sometimes in blue, sometimes in red) appear on my screen. Anyone here experience the same problem? First, I think it is because the OS (windows 2000 pro) not compatible with 5670, then I changed it to Windows xp pro sp1, and the same problem is still there (a lot of short lines appear). Then, now I changed it again to Windows 2000 pro sp 3 and still sometimes there are short lines on my screen. This problem drives me crazy.

Any advice and suggestion will be really really apreciated. Thanks........

I dont know about many of the benchmark programs other than 3dmark but 1045 isnt bad in 3dmark03.

IF you are having screen issues, such as, blue lines. SEND IT BACK. Repair it under warranty. Since your w/in your 30 day return policy, Sager should bend over backwards to get it fixed. I am using XP home, w/ DX9 and Cat 32. I don't have any screen problems. The screen is crystal clear whether I am office documents, playing games, or watching a DVD. Basically what I am trying to say is that you must have a hardware problem and you really need to get it fixed.
