M2 Question

I am going to be a HS senior this year and am doing some reasearch as to which notebook I should get. I will be purchasing it around Christmas of 04. I was looking really hard at the Alienware Sentia, but since they up graded and decrease the monitor by two inchs...that was a real turn off 14.1 to 12.1. I am now looking at the M2. Are they good computers for a student. I would appreciate some insight. Thanks

The tecra m2 is a great laptop for a student. It is slim, lightweight, and gets great batterylife.

I myself am a college student and tote my tecra everywhere. When I tweak the power settings on my computer I can get 4 hours or more out of a single battery charge. This is especially great since some of my classes run 4 hours. The laptop is also very quiet so it will not disturb others around you. When running on battery power the fan never comes on period. You would think that this would overheat the laptop but it does not. This laptop is the coolest laptop I have ever had. When on battery power this laptop stays very cool and you cannot even feel heat coming from underneath or above the unit. When plugged in, and playing games I feel a little heat near the fan exhaust vent.

As for games this can play all the games that I need it to. (Battlefield Vietnam, FFXI, Rise of Nations) The graphics card in the Tecra may not be top of the line for gamers but it does the job and is a hell of a lot better than crappy ass integrated graphics (points to alienware sentia).

Dude dont waste your money on a sentia, you can get more for your money with someone else. I looked at Sony, Dell, Fujitsu, Toshiba, and HP. Personally I felt the HP was cheap, the Dell was SUPER CHEAP, Fujitsu was great but had only integrated graphics, and Sony has too much proprietary software.

All in all I have been completely satisfied with my laptop and I feel confident that you would be too.
