Just buy memory with lifetime warranty at a good price. They all pretty much have the same latency. And it's not like overclockability is a concern like in a PC. So really price/preference is the only concern.

On the HD, aren't those the same? Check out the specs, if there is better specs on one, get that one, pretty obvious, it's only $8 bucks differnce, but i think they're the same =)

Edit: One is OEM, other retail maybe?

You can buy PC3200 ram, but it will only run at PC2700 speeds on that laptop.

I recommend buying from newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/app/manufact.a...log=381&DEPA=0

Just go for the cheapest stuff, everything will work the same unless you overclock.

I recently got 2 sticks of Transcend Pc2700 512mb for $86 each.

about the hard drive.. the e7k60 is meant for server use and is better for staying on all the time, and in fact will be more likely to break down if you turn your computer on and off a lot, while the 7k60 is more optimized for normal usage. unless you plan to keep your laptop on all day, the 7k60 is probably better.

j3ff.... I think you are WRONG.... Your Compal might not be able to use PC3200 but the Acer Ferrari 3200 uses AMD 64 & VIA ProSavage K8T800 Chipsett and therefor it CAN use DDR400...
nulland void. I recomend that you check the prices for Corsair, they have lifetime warranty and I have ONLY heard good things about them. I have not decided yet between 1x1024mb Value (CL3) or 2x512mb XMS (CL2.5)....

smark74 is correct, the Acer Ferrari 3200 works great with PC3200 memory and especially with those sticks from Corsair. I got two 512MB XMS3200LL sticks in mine so I know
