If the Laptop is dead cold (just started up) the hub works fine.
As a matter of fact, I have 2 hubs connected to it and tested fine.
I even run one hub through the other- which worked as well.
After a few hours of it being on (gaming, etc..) it failed on me again.
The error I get is 'Windows has detected a problem with an unknown USB device", or " USB device has malfunctioned".
Device manager lists the USB 2.0 enclosure as "unknown device".
Anyway- this is after the RMA for the problem, and it still acts flakey, and I'm assuming it gets worse when it's hot- but not all the time.
Today I had no issues after having the PC run all day.
I know some folks mentioned that they have flakey USB devices when they reboot- maybe its a more common problem- but they might not notice the same problem until they try a hub.
