Compaq& HP

Hi!
Does anyone have any experience with compaq or hp laptops. i have heard that compaq's are pretty unreliable - is that true?
also since hp bought compaq - are they the same quality or not (the same configuration is 100$ more as an HP)?

I have had an HP nx7010 for 3 weeks now and it is an excellent laptop. Compared to my father's IBM T41, this is way better. The widescreen is the best thing about it.

Compaqs and HP are extremely good computers...they last a long time..they have great customer service and are leniant on their warrenty issues....So...I do req. Besides HP and Compaq are essentially the same thing they are owned by the same company...same stuff just different name and design....

the guts of both lappys are EXACTLY THE SAME! It is just the exterior and in some case the speakers (which are still the same) are the only thing that make the diff, like in the r3000/zv5000 the compaq has a silver/black design with JBL Pro, while HP has a gray/black design with H/K

I've had an hp for 2 years (2.4ghz, 512mb ram, 40gb) and it's been very solid, no problems at all. It's a huge brick, but what can you do? Sound is excellent (altec lansing speakers) and the screen is good, could be brighter (but that was a few years ago).

My nx7010's screen is far brighter than my father's IBM T41!
