has anyone ever heard of this memory
i am thinking of buying 1 gig ram of kingmax for my acer laptop
i m not sure if they are any good
since 512 ram cost around 90 bucks each anywayz. i might as well pay 20-30 more for a 1 slot 1 gig one..
and is corsair way better than them?

really ? cool
how abt if anyone know if acer's ram is 200 pin or not

Most laptops today use 200 pin SODIMMs, but you should be able to find out for sure in an Acer manual.

I've got two sticks of this KingMax 1GB memory in my Asus M6Ne. No problems, runs great. But I think I'm losing some battery life because of it, not sure yet, just a vague suspicion.

Look on their site. (don't have link, just google it )

it's one of only 2 brands right now that use TinyBGA for their modules.

TBGA is the same tech that's used in current video adaptor ram chips. The arrangement is specified to run ~25% cooler than the older tech that's still used in most ram modules today, and also use slightly lower voltages. They are much thinner, too, which means more airflow inside the case.

And the fact that the connection from the chips to the pcb is 75% shorter than that of normal modules (they are mounted directly instead of soldered on), it should technically translate to clearer and faster signals.

ahh, the old bga stuff. I was thinking they might have something new going.
It definitely does run cooler, but supposedly not as stable as regular memory, maybe that's just the older stuff. From what I've seen lately, they've gotten good reviews.

they have both bga and non-bga memory, don't they?

Yes http://www.kingmax.com/semiconductor/index.htm

but the 1GB PC2700 SODIMM is only available in TinyBGA.
