How soon until Sagers get a Mobility 9800?

Grishnak posted this in the Dell XPS/9100 Forum:

Ati Mobility 9800 is coming!

Here is a scan of the advertising

This should help with the GPU bottleneck I was talking about...

Or maybe Sager will skip the M18/9800 and go straight for the M28.

Considering that I can't find it on ATI's website, it may be a while... Then again, http://www.station-drivers.com/page/...20mobility.htm has drivers for it on the site. I'd say you should e-mail Sager and post their response here for everyone to see.

I was hoping someone with Sager insider info would drop a hint.

It would need to be someone with Clevos insider information as Sager is just the OEM and Clevos is the ODM.

I think we won't see it before summer is out, because there's no hint of it from Sager or Clevo or Ati at least to the general public, so don't get optimistic.

On the game site www.firingsquad.com they did a review of the M11.
Yes, it's old because they we're back logged, and finally got around to it now.
In the comments section, fans asked why so long, and I asked about the M12.
The response was this.

The reason the article is delayed is because since
I received the Inspiron in April I've made 1 trip
to San Jose, 2 trips to Canada, and 1 trip to
Taiwan, with multiple product launches (X800,
6800, NVIDIA SLI, Far Cry 1.2, etc) in between.

To answer some of your other questions, no the
MOBILITY X600 isn't the successor to the 9700,
more like the PCI Express equivalent. We explained
this in detail in our article a few months ago.
The real successor to the MOBILITY 9700 is coming
VERY soon though.
------------------
Well, there you have it. An announcement from ATI will be made first. Then we'll wait a few months for Sager to announce, then a couple more for it to actually arrive. I'll guess 4 to 5 months total, just in time for Christmas.

Well, that's promising.

Just saw this AW that isn't even released yet and it's gonna have the 9700. Not a good sign for the near future.

Just buy Dell.

I wouldn't think it would be long..they update models on average what? Every 6 to 9 months? Clevo seems to have always been pretty cutting edge.. AW for all the hype is slow to come out with whats current.. 8 pipelines in a notebook is promising though.. but its probably the last good card before PCIE starts to come out. If we listen to ECS or Eurocom..it will be soon... ECS apparently has a PCIE notebook..stated for September..but we know they will probably end up being December or first quater of the new year.

I think there is too much "new stuff" on the horizon, and the ODM's don't know what to do.

I would just assume that It'll come out before 2005.

Please provide a "basis" for your conclusion. I think that you are all wet!!!
Note, the single element changed is the GPU ONLY.

Aliens are expensive but I *DO* like the single USB port that is on the right hand side of the notebook...

Still not worth the excess in immigration costs to purchase alien rights to citizenship. What kind of "alienswear" warranty comes with this?

Give me one of these in a centrino flavor. I don't care if I have to give Sager/PCTorque my first born for it!

Ohhhh Man I want this setup just like the updated 37770(??) to come out soon.

Anyone looking for a laptop like this?

Yes, that or a 17 inch, can't decide if I want to sacrifice weight, size and battery power for screen size. Maybe I'll just get one of each?

This is a big day. ATI announces MR9800 (M18). Glad I waited. The benchmarks look great, almost double the 9700.
"Dell has 30 days exclusivity on the Mobility Radeon 9800, but we suspect most of the major players in gaming notebooks will also have them available in the not-so-distant future."

I hope they update the 8790 and the 4750, and offer the upgrade to current owners. Now that would make the nanners happy.
