Toshiba support guy...

Hi All,
just got off the phone with Toshiba support. My wife's laptop is having trouble running directx games after upgrading to 9.0b. Anyway, he told that it was an "exercise in futility" to try to play newer games on a laptop . He said that if I wanted, I could pursue it with him further (for $35, of course), but he did not recommend it. I guest he's never heard of alienware!

What GFX cad does it have. And does this card states it supports directX ?

I have a laptop with 2yr old gfx that can run dx9c so maybe trying c build could solve your problems!

(just ordered unreal2004 be here sooon!!)

It's got a 32Mb GeForce 440 Go. I just tried 9.0c... Still no dice. Thanks for the tip though.
