How Popular is Sager? - Page 2

I like the uniqueness of Sager laptops. I could've bought a HP ZD7000 for alot less, but with Sager I knew I would get the quality that limited production has to offer, and with PCTorque i would get all the service and support I would ever need. Plus, its nice to have a notebook that most people have never seen before!

If you all wanna see some Sager advertising, I saw an ad for Sager in August's issue of Maximum PC, a humble one page deal, but, Maximum PC is one of the best PC magazines imo, better off subscribing to it though, it's 8.99 an issue and 19.99 for a year subscription lol but it's there! I SAW IT! WITH MY OWN EYES~!

i noticed that alien ware advertise on my unregistered version of 3dmark03, it constantly says "the best gaming notebook we've ever tested" .

A couple of weeks ago i was considering Alienware or voodoo, but overtime I'm beginning to like sager more and more.

Someone should start a lawsuit against AW for false advertising for saying it's the best gaming notebook when it clearly isn't. (I know you can't win a case like that, but I'd love to see AW brought to its knees) It's up there, but I'd say 5690 is the best right now. the 4750 and 8790 follow close behind

sager has the best for a given price.

i am from india and laptops are not as common over there. but as a computer enthusiast who has assembled my own rigs (its a lot cheaper thatway in india, almost half the price) i knew exactly what i wanted in my lappy (read gaming performance - LOL)

my research in india on a lappy that would fulfill my needs led me to this forum and sager - it used to be called sagerforums then - lol

the moment i came to the US i jumped on a sager w/ pctorque (5670 to be exact) - and i have had nothing to regret

great laptops

Well if you know how to do it right you can get a 9100 for less than $1900 with shipping and tax and that is the top of the line, but anyway.

I think the funniest thing I see is when you look at a computer game box and on the back it says "plays best on Alienware" it makes me laugh. If someone has the same components on their pc it will run the same (over clocking etc would be the same).

I think I might be getting the 4750 at some point. I am just holding out for a little while longer.

Are you serious!?! That is hilarious! What games have that!?! Omg lol...

About the Dell's, from them they are over priced for what they do. And there not exactly nice looking... but that's my opionion so w/e.

i've seen that "plays best on AW" crap on a lot of sites but I had no idea it was on actual game boxes, that's friggin ridiculous.

idk why you think dell is expensive. usually the xps models (dimension and inspiron) are a bit overpriced, but the i9100 is a pretty good deal. I do agree that it is an ugly hunk of plastic tho, but they're probably cooler for being so huge. the fact that dell doesn't have 17" screens was a big letdown.

I'm also waiting to get my 4750. actually I kinda turned into the unnofficial spokesman for it so I really should get one soon

Yeah they are not that great looking I agree. The 8600 isn't so bad, but the XPS and 9100 have that grey funky plastic at the bottom that makes it look bad.

I think Painkiller has that on the back of its box (don't quote me on that because I am not 100 percent sure). I've seen it on a few others, you just have to look at the very bottom of the back where like Game Spy or whatever else is normally located.

Actually I just looked, if you go here http://www.painkillergame.com/index2.php it says it at the bottom of the screen

Why do you say that the 5690 is better than the 8790? Only difference I see between the two is that the 8790 has more options (but is more expensive), and the 5690 doesnt let you get the 9700 256mb DDR GPU. If you were talking pricewise, definitely the 5690, but with 128Mb more gpu power, I dont see how the 5690 makes a better gaming computer. I know I'm a newb, please don't blast me too hard.

The 5690's 9700 is clocked higher from the factory than the 8790's is. So stock, the 5690 can beat the 8790 in benchmarks. Though the 8790 should have more potential than the 5690, you just have to up the clock rate.

How do you overclock the GPU to what its clocked on the 5690? IE what do I have to dl, and what do I have to set it to? I'm a complete overlcocking newbie.

Powerstrip is what most people use, and I think the settings are 500/300 on the 5690 but don't quote me. I have seen a laptop review where Sager did come out on top. The 8790 was in first then the 5680, but I don't remember where I saw it. Alienware was like 20 or something with a rating of 146 out of 200. It was that review that peak my interest in finding more about Sager.
wow, an honest review, that's quite rare you should dig that up and find it

I too. did a lot of research looking for a DTR... Finally found this forum and was sold on a SAGER. Now I'm a proud owner of a 4750. My first moblie PC, and so far I'm very happy with it. I will recommend a SAGER and this FORUM to others shopping for a mobile PC.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I was in Walmart when I saw the magazine. At that time I was going to buy an 8890. I saw this around when the 8790 were first released. The 5690 hadn't even come out. So excuse the typo of the previous post, However I offer this to the NO DEAD PIXEL GODS.
