I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many prongs there are on the end of the power cable that plugs into the power brick. Is it two or three pronged? I am curious because I want to pick up one of those inline surge protectors, but want to be sure that I get the right one. Thanks!

i think most inline surge protectors are 3 prong anyways. 3 prong is always compatible with 2 prong, but not the other way around.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not talking about the end that plugs into the wall. I'm pretty sure that almost all of them are three prong. I'm talking about the other end, that plugs into the power brick. Some notebooks have two prongs, while others have three.

I think 90% of notebooks are three pronged (plugging into power adapter). The prongs are hollow correct?

if your laptop doesnt have a 3 prong thingy, then something is seriously wrong. every laptop in existance needs the ground prong.

I really don't think that you're understanding what I'm asking. I know that the end that plugs into the wall is three pronged due to grounding. The other end of the power cable that plugs into the power brick (female end) can either have two prongs or three prongs. The power brick has either two or three pins that go into the opening of each of these prongs.

Yes, the hollow prongs that go into the power brick. Do you know if the CX5 is two or three?
