Low 3dmark03 score....why?

I have dell precision m60, with 1.7Ghz dothan, 1 gig ram, quadrofx go 1000, 7200rpm hd,

and I only get a score of 740 with 3dmark03, now according to what I've read I should get around 3000

(All I can think of is that it might be running at 600Mhz, but its plugged in and the power settings are at "home/office desk" which I pressume makes it run at full speed...? But I can't find anywhare that it actually tells you how fast it is running.)

any ideas?

The random answer that comes to mind is that the FX is NOT a gaming-oriented card. Run some applications that take advantage of the OpenGL and you'll see some major improvements.

Yes the Quadro FX is a graphics design card it isn't made to run intense 3D games or 3D benchmarks. I do believe that your score is still low even for a workstation card. Right click on my computer and go to properties that should tell what speed your processor is running at. If that dosen't show it correctly go to start, run and type in dxdiag and hit enter that will tell you what speed the comp is running at.

no its running at full speed, but I have seen numbers around 3000, on this forum for the same card, on similarly spec'd computers. The quadro fx go 1000 should perform as well or better as the geforce fx go 5700, as it is the same core and if i'm not mistaken quadro's perform the same or better than the geforce that they're derived from in all situations.

by the way this machine runs gta3 vastly better than my desktop 2.8Ghz p4 with radeon 9600 XT and 1 gig of ram, so I know that quadro's can game.

According to my notes, after receiving my M60 on July 15, I downloaded 3DMark03 on July 17 (don't remember the version number), as well as 3DMark2001 SE Patch build 330 and Aquamark3. My M60 came with the driver 6.14.10.5381 and video BIOS 4.36.20.30.D1, as well as BIOS A05.

Running at Dell's factory settings (except for WinXP security patches), on July 17 I got 3DMark2001 11747, 3DMark03 2728, Aquamark 19006.

Let me add that subsequently I changed the original configuration as explained in

http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=28667

but I am still using a version of the Portable/Laptop power scheme modified to turn off the LCD after 10 mins and the HDD after 3 mins. Further, I have never changed the original BIOS A05 settings.

In particular, note that I have stopped using Dell's Quickset, and I am not using SpeedswichXP.

Your results do look abnormal. For troubleshooting purpose, please provide more details about your system, just as I did for mine.
