Hey all. Has anyone ordered a CL56 from MWave? If so, please describe how it went and whether or not you are satisfied with the laptop.

I'm looking to for the PentiumM 735, 1 gig ram, 80GIG HDD, DVD-RW.

What speed is the ram?

Ouch, I'd thought it would be 2700.

Me too. Order the least and buy your own elsewhere.

You mean install it on my own?

Sure, buy it here and put it in yourself. Just as easy as on a desktop machine. Take the 2100 and sell it on ebay.

Okay, does the CL56 take a certain HDD?

DDR333 2700 Memory is optional for the http://www.rjtech.com barebones. So I guess I wouldn't need to buy it elsewhere.

Just that it's a 2.5in model. You might want to check out internetishop also, seem to have good prices (but bad ratings).

Ouch, very bad ratings. Nevermind on that last tip. Worth a look though.

RJ has everything you need, they just give you the option to not get stuff so you can sort of build it yourself a little cheaper. I just don't like their return policy/warranty.

Here's an example of the type HD you're looking for.

So what do you suggest?

Depends if you want best price or piece of mind, and the difference isn't that much. I just (10 min ago) put in my order with discountlaptops. Took me 2 weeks of shopping to figure out who to go with. My second choice was powernotebooks.com A little higher prices, but they have the elite series (no dead pixels, AS5, better case). I personally wouldn't buy from someone that is going to charge 300 bucks to return it, like RJ.

I like that idea, but too bad the CL56 is out of stock, I'll call up and see whats up. I'm also thinking about asking them to change out the memory they usually offer with that laptop and put in some better memory, will see how much that'll set me back.

I am perfectly pleased with mine that I got from MWAVE. However, I did aquire some PC2700 though. I am about to build one from RJTECH for a friend. Be sure to get the wireless from RJTECH as it is a bitch to install one.

Zipzoomfly for hard drive and CD-RW/DVD-ROM.
Newegg for memory and CPU.
