Cool. You finally ordered. Way to go. I think you will be happy with it. here's some hammered bananas.
congrats..im sure u'll love it...haven't got mine guessing we'll be getting it round the same time next week
post #5 of 83
I ordered the 4780 about 6 weeks ago and wish i would have waited but i had no idea that they were going to come out with 2 new models similar to the 4780.
i see you settled on the 7200 rpm drive. if i ever upgrade my hard drive it would be to 100 gb 7200 rpm drive which i think should come out later this year. but i won't buy it for awhile. the mobility 9800 upgrade i think will be worth it. did you see what it got stocked! 17000 ond 3dmark01 and 5000 on 3dmark03!

Thank god, for all the posting you did on the 4750 I thought you would be the first one in line to order one, but you didn't. At least you finally got it ordered! Looks like it will be one killer of a machine. Good choice with the 7200rpm HD option, its an option that I will never regret choosing. Write up a good review and take lots of pics! Hope the heat issues don't affect you too badly. Glad to see another excited Sager owner. Hopefully the wait won't be too long. Congrats again on the purchase.

it's official then?
The 9800 will be out an available for Sager notebooks?
When?
we will have to compare are systems. i have the 80 gb 5400 rpm so it would be interesting to see the speed differences. edit * has sager ever let us down with ati cards? they are the only one that i know off that carry the ati 9700 256. so i assume they will be an early adopter of 9800.

WaIT A MINUTE!!!!!!! sager is going to release an mr9800 upgrade for their lappys? where did you get this? please tell me it's a credible source because i really want to believe it! thank god for this, now i might not have to get another dell! please, please, please let it be true!!!!
i don't know yet. i am sure they will though. pctorque has offered upgrades in the past for sager models. so why not the ati 9800. its not an pci upgrade so it more likely to be added in the next revision of sagers.

Hey don't say things like that; I just received my laptop and pretty happy with it! Don't tell me there is something better than this babe out there!
Don't worry it won't be available for awhile. But when it will i probably will get it. and possibly and processor upgrade and mobo upgrade. if its only 700 bucks.

i know dell is comming out with the 9800 in the XPS and 9100's pretty soon. Dont ask me how, but i think dell is getting first dibbs on it. Check out the XPS/9100 section on this forum. Look for the thread that says "9800 comming out soon?" here is a little pic of the adverstisment for dell. look at the GPU specifications.

Also, the XPS has the upgradable GPU, so with dell you dont have to worry about when something better comes out, like "otherguy" just said. I dont even own a dell, but im am torn between the XPS and 8790/4750.... some one HELP ME!!

yeah you do. the 9800 should be the last agp upgrade. i don't think dell has a dibs on it, i'm sure sager will eventually offer an upgrade. and the price difference between a sager and a dell should equal the same on the 200+ upgrade from dell and the 700+ upgrade for sager. (sager is a lot cheaper with equivelent specs if bought from a reseller other than sager.)

Write a review when you get it

thanks guys, I'll be sure to write a review, look for "The Ogre Chronicles: Part II"

what's all this talk about the 9800m in my thread? take it elsewhere plz. I'll worry about upgrading when my 4750 becomes too slow to game on (never!) and by then they'll have even better than the 9800.
he he. i like to stir up trouble some times.
i dunno, the dell is looking rather tempting...if the upgrade card is only $250-300, my system should only be about $2200 if i upgrade the RAM later and go with the 64mb m11 initially. and from what i saw on PCT and powernotebooks, the sager 4750 would cost about that much initially, sans upgrade, and if its gonna cost ~700 for the whole shabang.... please don't make me relive the dell commercials!
