lol, good luck trying that! It's soldered to the mobo. Even if you could cut it off cleanly, you'd have a hellofa time getting it soldered onto your friends machine. don't even think about trying that.

the 9700 is attached to the motherboard, so you would need a new motherboard.
Either that or have really good soldering chops. If the pin out configs are the same I don't fear de-soldering a chip of this size and replacing it with a new one. I've soldered smaller chips than this.
