lol, good luck trying that! It's soldered to the mobo. Even if you could cut it off cleanly, you'd have a hellofa time getting it soldered onto your friends machine. don't even think about trying that.

don't worry about hijacking, what's to hijack? I was just announcing that I finally ordered, not starting a discusion or anything

calm down ogre. I did hijack the thread. If the ati is conected using solder than i could safely remove it! 3 years of electronics and safely install the 9800 hopefully.

Either that or have really good soldering chops. If the pin out configs are the same I don't fear de-soldering a chip of this size and replacing it with a new one. I've soldered smaller chips than this.

i made a robot before from a kit. it required soldering rather tiny chips to a pc (printed circuit) board.

WTF?!?! a smart Ogre? are you as dumb as me you idiot? Ogres are known throughout the universe for their buffoonery and dangerous (often suicidal) brute strength! why, just the other day, Ogre blew up a gas station because Ogre got high off of the gasoline and threw peoples cars around thinking it was a basketball game.
