Sager Future Upgrades Thread - Page 4

basically I would only buy the upgrade if the upgrade brings me up to date... and not only almost up to date.
i think that's why the sager upgrade is better. you can upgrade screen, cpu, mobo, ram, hd, and gpu (for extra $ of course), not just gpu like with AW and Dell. That way you get a new machine without paying for a whole new machine.

Then there is the 8890 people who don't get another upgrade. I hate to say Agentsim has a point. If the 8790's design chasis has changed to fit pcie.. then more then likely so will the 4750...new chasis, new system.. They might do 9800 though, I just dont think they will have the room for PCIE..

i asked ati about it, but i'm afraid they will not answer my question because i am not a developer. developers get inside information so any developers reading this please ask the ati development contact for me.

I never thought I'd say this..as of today Dell 9100 is the best bang for the buck I config 3.2 p4 1 gig ram Wuxga 15.4 Raedon 9800 256mb 60 gig 7200 HDD for 2180 something. Dell? God someone shoot me..i'll just wait another month for Sager to show them up lol

i dunno about wuxga on a 15.4" screen. seems like everything would be microscopic. wsxga seems like the best resolution.
it all remains to be seen, time will tell but some of us don't have time. I am perfectly satisfied with my 4750, it can easily handle all of the games I'll play so I really don't need a 9800. also, if i can't get the 9800 in a 17" amd Sager lappy, i don't really want it. By the time my 4750 becomes slow, I'll be building my own desktop anyway.

I'll let you guys play the waiting game some more, Ogre like 4750!

I didn't have the UXGA on the 5690 but most here do..and they say its great.. I wish I had went with it when I had mine..but I guess it doesn't matter now since I RMA'd it..now im glad I did..

i'm waiting for new technology and my 4750. ups is so slow. i ordered several weeks ago and yet i still don't have my lappy. the 9800 would make a big difference in doom 3. you would be able to play on high settings rather than normal. and it got a 88% in fps in halo.
hope ups doesn't take as long with mine, sorry to hear it maya

thanks. i hope it arrives earlier though. when does ups usually deliver? at night?
Keep in mind, just because the 9800 is exclusive to Dell doesn't mean the other ODM's don't have their hands on it. But with Exclusive rights that would bar the competition from even saying they have it built in a unit and ready to go.. They would have to wait til the Dell monopoly runs out after the 4 weeks or risk being sued..

and most likely the upgrade the earliest they would appear would be november/december.

There will be only a few design wins on this chip since one manufacturer is exclusively locked into this design and the M24 PCI Express core is just around the corner

There you have it.. I bet Clevo is going straight to PCIE and why they are so hush hush..let Dell think they've won..it aint over yet hehe

i am pretty sure they stopped supporting the 8890 because it used a 16" screen which is hard to produce. i don't think a 17" widescreen is as hard to produce as 16" 4:3 screen.
So far the review sites say these cards won't fit into a med or small notebook..only the large DTR's which is why Dell is so huge they took it into the design account when they built it for this card. Plus have to take power consumtion to run these.. and the 4780 is a old chasis.. I doubt it will get PCIE or the 9800 but I hope it does..
well we can't really say that... we know that PCIE will be available for T&L lappies in the future, so it is possible that in the near term it could be crammed into a 47xx chassis
