Ram

just wanted to let everyone know, that you CAN return your ram to dell, if you decide to upgrade.
My computer is laggin like hell when i use bittorrent with 512mb, so i decided to go upto 1gb. I just talked to dell via online chat, and they said i can return both 256mb sticks for $120 which is a lot more i can get by selling it.

Anywayz, now im off to look for 2 x 512mb.

I will have to get two of these (they are all 512). I would appreciate any comments for the brands and prices.

Newegg.com (no tax, free shipping):
A-Data - 85
SimpleTech - 92
Transcend - 95
Kingmax - 98
Geil Gold Dragon - 98
Kingston - 98
Corsair - 99

crucial.com - 108 (tax on this one)

ebay: Crucial 1GB (2x512) $170 shipped. Says its new, but taken out of box to be tested...Does the crucial lifetime warrenty still apply if i dont get it directly from them

Or if you know of a better deal.

Thanks

im back at home now, so i dont have the link anymore. But look around, its deffinetely there. They actually just called to confirm my purchase (cus my billing and shipping address are different), and its gonna come friday! thats fast shipping, for it being free.

kdynamic: first of all, the Evo MR blows away the STi in every aspect , secondly, i just told them that it wasnt enuf simple and honest

I'm also interested in this...

Update: I just contacted Dell via chat, and they said your system can not be older then 21 days to return anything, for a refund or exchange... I was really hoping they would take back my ram, because I have been wanting to upgrade for a while now... Anyone want to buy mine? I have 2 sticks of 256, from an 8600... PM me if anyone is interested...

Is that right eVo? Or can I return even after the 21 days? How old is your system, seems like you have had it for a while?

Thats funny because on NewEgg the Adata 512Ram is now 99.00 and the Kingston memory is 94.00 a stick.....

I'm going for the Kingston

Also I would like to know where you got that great deal. I've seaqrched and searched Kingstion.com and the best price I was able to find was 140.00 for ONE stick of ram. I found this at the current promotions section of the website. Now the regular PC3200 512MB (for desktops) are going for 75.00 a piece, but I couldn't find info on low SODIMM prices

Striker: I also used dell chat, and the guy said the exact same thing to me. Then i just put in one sentance of whining "so theres nothing you can do for me then?" and i was very polite. And he said, he could issue a return, but there was a 15% restocking fee. But even after the restocking fee, it was $60 a stick, which is a great deal

pranaearth: i originally bought 2x512mb Kingston ram from newegg for $98 a piece, but then i cancled after i found the deal on shop.kingston.com

Evo when did you buy your 8600??? Just wondering to compare, on weather they could do the same deal for me... I asked if she could do anything, but she said I could keep them to keep for my self... Maybe I just have to talk to another rep, to get the deal... Just like when people call on the phone, one rp might let you have something another won't do...

Well every person I talked to said it cant be done... I have even tryed bringing up that I know someone who has done this, but they said well they may have upgraded but if it is over the 21 day policy, there account will not be credited the money... I have tryed over 10 different chat sessions with different people, and still nothing... Oh and I had one girl tell me the ext number to John is 430448... So maybe that will help you if you don't get your credit as promised... But keep me updated if you do indeed get your credit... Were you getting a credit to your account, or a check mailed to you???
