Need advice on laptop

I need some advice...I'm looking at getting a laptop for college, but I can't decide on what brand(and I keep finding other grands that have good laptops, but i've never heard of). I was wondering if someone could give me an advice on brand/model.

I am looking for a Pentium 4 3.4Ghz, fast hard drive, 1Gb RAM, 128Mb graphics card. I will be using it for video editting and audio recording....so if that adds any specs/needs that I didn't list....Thanks in advance for the help.

Sager 8790 is a good deal at pctorque. Alienware has some "video editing" laptops at a higher price.

The Sony Vaio GRT series are supposedly great for video editing, but only offer 3.2ghz. Too bad their memory prices are outrageous.

The high-end Dells are actually pretty good for editing, and not as expensive.

Overall, I think the Sager or Dell is your best bet. For editing, a dual-hard drive system would be nice, maybe 2 x 60gb or 80gb. Or grab an external hard drive, probably cheaper that way.

Do you know how hard/easy/cheap it is to install more RAM in a laptop yourself?

it's easy, depending on the laptop. most have a 2-screw opening that you can just add/replace as simple as popping out the old card and inserting the new. Just depends on the model.
