I think he's asking about the MS intellimouse 3.0 and 4.0

I have the 3.0 that I ordered with my computer. It works really well and I like it. I tried one of the 4.0 ones at best buy, and I didn't really care for it too much. That new side to side scroll wheel puts too much space between your fingers and it's almost like you have to stretch them apart to fit the contour of the mouse. It's rather uncomfortable actually. On the other hand, the only drawback I find with the 3.0 is that it just feels cheap. I don't know how to explain it really, it just feels like it was made with the intentions of best appearance and not quality. Anyone who's got one probably knows what I mean. I prefer logitech mice over any other brand. I have an MX500 that I use with my desktop, and I feel that it works better and is more comfortable than any of the microsoft or other brand mice.

I had a 3.0 and I bought a 4.0 to replace it. It's a bit bigger, so it fits my big hand better. And I like the side-to-side scrolling. I'd say go for the 4.0 unless you really care about the color matching your painted Alienware (because I don't think they offer colored 4.0s yet).

I have the 4.0 and love the customizeable buttons but one thing that sucks is that with my Dell, I can only have the synaptics software (which is useful when typing because I can decrease sensitivity on the touchpad to prevent the cursor from drifting from palm heat) OR the 4.0 software which you need to customize the buttons. Anyone have a way around this?

I have the 3.0 I love it. Has the right weight and feel for me. I have small hands and it fits me perfectly

I only use the large thumb button for double click and disabled the small one and the wheel button. I looked at the 4.0 I didnt much care for the side scrolling. I run at an ungodly high resoultion so I dont have a big need for side scrolling.

on a side note the MS notebook mouse is great for those times when you want a little more control than the touch pads provide
