mouse scroll wheel resets

Thread Starter
Just wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem and knows a fix. I'm using a logitech mx500 and have disabled the touchpad. I have the scroll wheel set to three lines and it seems everytime i shutdown and restart the computer, the scroll wheel will reset to one line. Strangely, in the mouse properties it says 3 lines, but when scrolling, it only scrolls 1 line. I used this mouse on my old desktop and it never did this, so if anyone has experienced this and/or knows how to fix it, i would appreciate it.
Thanks
greg

Drivers maybe?

Have you tried (re)installing drivers for the mouse?

Good luck

I found this on the Logitech site:

NOTE:
Serial Mice users under Windows XP: MouseWare does not support any serial pointing devices under Windows® XP. A Logitech mouse connected to the serial port will function with native drivers, but it will not be displayed in the MouseWare control center and you will not be able to program the buttons.

C-Series device users: C-Series mice are not supported under Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows ME when connected to the serial port. C-Series devices can be identified by the following model numbers (M/N), located on the bottom of the device: T-CA1, C7, CA, CC, and CE. Please note the CA and the CE are combination devices and will function on the PS/2 port.

For more on this as well as the latest drivers for the Logitech MX500 optical mouse:

Well I have no idea who would still be using a serial mouse (haven't seen one of those in years).

But I am having the same problem with my MS Intellimouse Explorer. I set the thing to scroll 3 lines at a time and every times I shut down/restart the computer it seems to reset that setting......

Any other ideas?

Some people have had problems with the different programable buttons using the XP drivers, make sure you are using the drivers from the Logitech site.
