3.5 hours battery life - DVD viewing

Just an FYI, I get about 3.5 hours of battery life while viewing DVDs off my hard drive (ISO mounted on virtual drive). I've read that others only get about 2-2.5 hours using the optical drive.

Laptop users, be sure to check out the following programs...

DVD Shrink
Virtual Drive Creator

That's pretty sweet.. I thought my Dell 600mhz p3-m with its 2 hour+ battery time while watching dvd's was a lot.. now it'll be able to play an entire lotr extended edition

Yes, dvd decrypter is also a good choice to rip dvds. and any daemon should do the work zbout virtual drives...

I never used DVD Shrink yet. fortis, is it good? does it have burn capabilities?

DVD Decrypter doesn't compress at all, so your ISO ends up being like 8 or 9 GB. With DVD Shrink, you can make a direct backup image that will fit on a 4.7 GB DVD-R, or you can cut out the extras and subtitle tracks and stuff to make your ISO less than 4 GB.

and no, it doesn't have burn capabilities. Rather it launches a 3rd party application (Nero or DVD Decrypter) to burn to disc.

DVD Idle is also another good one to get better battery life while using optical drive. Or so i've heard.
