Believe me, I'm not calling Jeff or anyone else a lier, but I also noticed that they both (at least everyone who posted about it on the Newegg rating board) said that they checked it with CPU-z program. It's very possible that this program could be wrong and they are getting a misreading.
Jeff if you see this, and can confirm that you have checked it with other programs too, please let us know.
Nothing wrong with being skeptical.
I'm 99.9% sure NewEgg.com did not have the 2012 instock when I was making my mind up about my purchase. I almost didn't buy it because of this. I don't know if they were just soldout for one evening or maybe even for just a couple hours but they were. The reason I didn't say 100% sure is I was looking at soo many different notebooks that I may be mistaken and I like leaving myself an out.
As far as CPU-z being wrong. That was 100% possible. I've run a bunch of different benchmarks and given the performance I'm positive it's a Dothan. One benchmark that makes this readily apparent is AquaMark3. I was comparing all the 1.45 to 1.55GHz notebooks with the 9700mobile cards and my CPU is way above any of the other ones. Mine is actually right inline with the A64 2800+ mobile.http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=280546144
If anyone has any other program besides CPU-z that they trust... let me know and I'll run it and post the results.
Now after saying that... I'd still have bought the 2012 even if it wasn't a Dothan CPU. It's a great notebook!
Forgot to add... that's an xtremely nice review Odie.
And as far as overclocking the video card... I can't overclock my GPU or mem 1MHz even without it hanging 3DMark01 or 03.
I'm going to try different drivers but I'm not holding my breath.
