ATI Catalyst 3.4 Drivers Available for Download! - Page 2

that mod program doesnt work i get the inf error everytime i try to install these drivers. why is it ATI drivers never can install right?
why dont you just use those instructions someone posted above. I use them everytime and they work just fine. I cant understand why you would want to mod and tweak and write code when a few clicks will see you through...

sheesh...

and the 640x400 problem - when you restart does windows tell you that your res is very low and does it ask you to click a balloon on the taskbar - DO IT

I had the same problem - clicked the bugger and everything is fine now...

I am still stuck at 640 MODE after finally getting these stupid drivers installed. Anyone wanna buy a 5670? I am very pissed off at this laptop right now. I dont understand why the resolution DOES NOT save. Why the hell would you be able to change it and it not stay. I did the stupid ballon thing and that doesnt do anything. As well when I finally got the 3.2's installed i never had to click on that thing anyway. I seriously am never buying a ATI product ever again.
I am a bit pissed to, but I bet there will be some kind of fix out shortly.

The 5670 users are the ones who are experiencing this, so all I can say is use the 3.2 drivers till a fix comes out

Any 8886 or 8887 owners out there try these 3.4 Cat drivers? I'm not budging on drivers or updates until I need to.

Yes - I have an 8887 with XP Home. Could not get the new drivers to keep my resolution to stay at a good setting. Tried many times. Always changed when I rebooted. Give it a try and see if you can make it work on your 8887.
Ok how many of you guys with the "resolution reset" problem are using Windows XP Home Edition?? or any OS other than Windows XP Professional??
Sager 8886
WinXP Pro SP1a
DirectX 9.0a
Catalyst 3.4

No problems...

Redundant

Oh, I also used the make mobile patch software on the .inf before install...

This is the update I've been waiting for! My text is alot shaper and more clear. The new settings in the control panel are a god send on my 8886. It has improved the contrast %110. Definately do this update if you don't have a UXGA sceen!
i have an 8887 and am experiencing the same problem that the 5670 owners are. i also have xp home. it seems that xp home users are experiencing this. don't worry it's a microsoft issue not an ati issue. you don't need to get rid of comp. i'm sure one of them have a fix out soon, if not sager with their version. btw, what are the new features that everyone is talking about? i see no difference in the features between the 3.2 and 3.4 versions...
It's not an issue that has to do with XP Home users only.

I have a Sager 5670 fully maxed out and run XP Pro and so does my best friend.

We are experiencing the same problem...
Ok so it affects both XP versions. But so far it looks like only the 128MB Radeon 9000 equipped laptops are experiencing this problem.

I recommend using the Sager supplied drivers or the 'new' ones available at the sager website (very slow download) for the time being. If someone with the 5670 or 8887 is willing to test these drivers with various options and settings and get it to work then it will be great...

In any case its not a big deal really...

(gsferrari with a smug smile coz his OLD 5660 still rox!! )

Just being anal...

we'll get it to work or s-seven.net will come out with the modded ones before ya know it...dont worry peeps...
i just wanted to let you guys know i have noticed on a D3D ring screensaver I run after installing the messed up 3.4 drivers the fps on the ss increased 2 fold. i hope this means good things for me when i run planetside.
sorry to burst your bobble, but s-seven.net won't be releasing any more drivers. It's on his site. He just had a kid... always ruins your fun

Test what gsferrari? I'm game...

No slam on gsferrari here (the guy has forgotten more about this stuff than most of us will ever know)
I do what works for me and so far I havent done badly. Its weird because I got my first PC 3 years back and now I have this laptop - i've actually learnt a lot after joining the forums...not forgotten i still am da nOOb though

I dont think the RADEON 9000 series is DX9.0 compliant because these cards were released before DX9.0 was released my MS. I find it quite odd that ATI doesnt have a 128MB Radeon 9000 listed on their website...
http://mirror.ati.com/products/builtmobile.html

I am fairly sure it is a problem only with the 128MB M9 equipped systems. I dont have such a system with me to play with and thats what I meant when I said "Those with the 8887 or 5670 please help test these drivers for functionality"

I hope someone comes to your rescue...this shouldnt be such a big problem really...I wonder what they changed in these drivers that causes so much trouble...the 3.2's never had such issues...
I tested bf1942 with the cat 3.4 and the see-thru textures are still there!!! AHHHHH! Oh well, maybe it's a bf1942 thing. Maybe the 1.4 release will fix all that. These drivers do seem to help a lot with the frame rate and fluidity, but I don't think they are meant for the Sagers yet...
DO you have DX9.0 or 8.1 ?? If you have DX9.0 you will see the see through stuff...I dont have this problem with the Cat 3.4 drivers...work flawlessly
