ATI Catalyst 3.4 Drivers Available for Download! - Page 4

I'm getting ready to try out the new Omega Drivers - based on Cat 3.4, but with tons of features ( including built in overclocking - I am wondering if it will work on the M9? ). Anywho, they can be had at:

www.omegacorner.com

They also say that you only have to uninstall the control panel, as the omega install includes the cp - but not the drivers as the omegas install over the old ones...

They do recommend the mobile mod for them though...

Eh...

We shall see.

Verrrrry interrrrresting. Keep us "posted"!

EDIT: Just noticed this on Omega's Readme:
"Removed support for Mobility cards in the 2k/XP drivers, those
of you that need support for mobility cards please use Patje's
Mobility Modder utility to add support. The utility can be found
here: http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/"

JoeBob says "Check it out".

Hi, jusu got my computer last tuesday and Im already tampering with it

So, I also got the Sager 8887 XP home with the Mobility 9000 -

I have Direct x 9 installed and I tried the Catalyst 3.4 -

Worked fine until I rebooted and then I also got the dreaded 640x480

I rolled back right now to Catalyst 3.2 and at no display problem.

I'm going to wait until there is a new release or patch, or maybe try the Omega drivers.

hey tdd - I dont think the drivers sager released are the Cat 3.2 I had them installed and they were the 6178 drivers I think...

Anyone with the M9 drivers that sager released a few weeks back?? Please check version number and make a post please...

I'll not be reverting to those drivers - the 3.4's are sweet...

Im just stumped why they work great on the 5660 and not on the 5670 and 8887

Anyone with an 8886?? can you please try out the Cat 3.4 and let us know if it works ok on your system??

Gs ferrari, i have an 8886 and i have used them since a little after they were released, no problems here.

GS,

I am running the Sager drivers posted/released on 4/13/2003 and they are ATI drivers dated 2/28/2003, version 6.14.6307...

Thats good news...at least we can hope for customized drivers from sager in a few weeks...thats not too bad a scene...

I am just wondering what they will do to the drivers to make them work on the 128MB M9 equipped sagers...

Is there really such a difference between the 64MB and 128MB versions?? I thought only the amount of RAM was the difference...

Most drivers we write for our hardware has specific memory management instructions so I guess this is where the problem might be...

I tried the new Omega Drivers - based on Cat 3.4 but had no luck. Same problem, same bat channel, same bat time. Res goes back to 640 by 480 after I keep trying to reset the res.

What is the definition of insanity? Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Interesting little trick I found. If one puts on the new cat 3.4 drivers and the new ATI control panel then reboot. then fix your res the way you want it, then go to your computers control panel, system, device manager, click on display >>> get into the "driver" tab, then role back your driver to previous version. If one does that, one will be left with an enhanced new ATI control panel with 3.2 drivers and one will be able to control the contrast as well as the brightness.

Thats nothing new...I posted about it right at the beginning...

Its super useful when you shift between CRT and LCD constantly...and I can set it up now to show some amazing colors and details that werent visible on the LCD before...

The contrast tool is a great addition...

You dont have to do all the rolling back. Just install the Cat 3.2 and the new control panels and it will work just fine...

I'm just wondering if any of the guys in this thread who have this res reset problem with the 128mb M9 will give Sager a heads-up on it so that Sager's 3.4's will have a fix...
I did not contact them because I could not find an email address for them.

Maybe someone could post their email address and all the bummed out 3.4 less folks could send them a little note.

Just an idea.

Do you have an 8887. NO. That did not work for me. The only way I have the contrast feature is when I did it the way I explained. When I tried putting the new ATI control panel with the 3.2 drivers installed it did not work for me. Maybe someone with an 8887 of 5670 can try and post their results. I already tried to do it several ways. Only one way worked for me.

OK - I emailed them. I hope more people will also email them.

Thanks for the email address.

nah that warpsearch article is old and doesnt really help the 640 thing out.
Was wondering if the new cat 3.4 drivers work better with direct X 9 versus cat 3.2 drivers with direct X 9? Has any one checked this out yet?
if you are talking benchmarks then I dont think so...

I got the same score with the 3.2's with dx8 and dx9 so I am guessing it will be the same case with the 3.4's.

The 3.4's beat the 3.2's no doubt but not by much...
I guess what I really wanted to know about dx9 and 3.4 drivers is if the graphics were better in games and if people, in general were not having the problems they normally would have with the 3.2 drivers and dx 9. In other words, is 3.4 solving the problems that people were having with dx9?

Thanks for your reply though.
