I just had a fairly intact winbook xl(dell?) and I ripped the screen off of it because it wasn't working right. It works on a regular vga monitor just fine.

I forgot about this thread and threw away the display. I should have taken pictures.

took me quite a while to find these cause I had deleted the folder, but found them on my server backup. I can't find the horizontal rain movie but i have the pictures. The first movie is before horizontal rain takes effect which is what rain.jpg is. The second movie is counterstrike after the horizontal rain.

(the video files are kinda big)

I got that problem when I used the ATI utility to find the maximum speed of my card. Freaked me out even though I knew about the occurance of "rain".

The cargo hold should be slightly pressurized... maybe not as well as the cabin is, but definitely not unpressurized. Ah well, I won't be sending my laptop that route.

Charbroiled Latitude

Here's a charred Latitude D800 that had been in a guy's trunk when his car burst into flames. He escaped unscathed, but the notebook was in rough shape. Amazingly, not only was the data on the hard drive recoverable, but the notebook booted up!

Pictures attached!

Yes, more! A lovely shot of a shattered LCD. Never put your laptop in the floor of the back seat before picking up the kids from school!

Oooh Sat on it!

Guy sent me a picture of his system today... He had tossed it into the car and then got in himself. The laptop was wedged between him and the console and he squished it pretty bad. Can't remember what model it was.. a Latitude D600 or Inspiron 5150 ... Lovely image though.

So what causes this 'rain' - I have a friend whose desktop with its new Radeon 9800 Pro is suffering this very problem. It worked for a while with the card, but then this happened.

the 'rain'

it was the video card for the pictured system. Replacing it fixed it right up.

I'm sure that's not what my friend wants to hear, because he bought the card on ebay!
