I've had my computer for two whole days but I'll go ahead and write my thoughts:
Specs: in sig below
Quality: Better than expected. Plastic is plastic. The screen is very nice. Keyboard is 100 times better than i thought it would be - clean, crisp, quiet keys. Grade: A
Performance: Honestly, I can't put it into words. It smokes the Dell deminsion 4600 I bought last year (2.4/p4, 80 gig hd, fx5200...). read the benchmarks: speaks for itself. I thought it might keep up with my desktop, but not blow it out of the water. Grade : A++
Looks: very very sexy. Very professional and nicely laid out. The blue is darker than what I thought it would be (even after looking at lots of photos). The silver top is great - I would HATE the blue top. The black bottom gives it a sexy, powerful, beast look if you will. As someone else here said: it is a "man's laptop". Grade: A (A+ for the XPS with no snap on cover)
Size/Weight: Stop b******* you wusses. 10 lbs is not going to kill you. If it is get off your butt and do some manual labor. My opinions, It's light. Anything lighter would drift away. The size is smaller than what I would have liked. Yea, you heard me. I wanted big and bad. This satisfies me, but bigger would have been better. Only problem is height. It sits so high above my already high desk it makes it difficult to type, But a keybord will fix that. Or a lower desk. Grade: A+
Noise: Quiet until I start gaming. Then not even as loud as my very quit deminsion at idle. Fans don't speed up unless you're really getting into some heavy 3d apps. Grade A+
Heat: not much. After two hours of gaming even the ram was just warm (not hot or burning). exhaust was nice and warm but palm rest and keyboard were cool. Grade: B (wish i could lay it down on my bed but i fear too without proper air space under it)
Sound: Not bad not bad. took out battery to hear the difference. BIG difference. The mini-sub is great. Voices have depth to them. And speakers handle full volume - even though it's not extremely loud. Grade: B+
Battery life: who cares, I just wanted an easily portable desktop

I REALLY REALLY WISH there was a car adapter though. primary battery last me 1:40. Grade: C
Applications/software: please, give me a break. Dell bundles crap together. Reformat is a must. even then the drivers CD doesn't have the correct drivers for the 1350 b/g wireless. just the 1300 and 1400. Every other driver worked well. (don't know about video, installed omega's first thing). Grade: F
Jealousy factor: PRICELESS, I love it that my lappy is smoking desktops left and right. Grade: A ++
Price: just right. I found the 20 % off at a time there were already some great additions (hd upgrade, free wireless, free 2nd day shipping, and something else). Got the dell deluxe nylon bag and i believe the discount applied to it as well. I could be wrong. but in the checkout the bag was not listed seperately like the other brand bag i had previously priced out was. Anyways. Grade: A++
Gaming: I knew i was forgetting something
I ordered UT2004 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004. Played UT at max settings at 1024x768 res. 1280x800 was fragmenting on me but not lagging. The game was NICE! SMOOTH playing, screen handled great. Graphics were GREAT. NOOO lag. This really really impressed me. The golf game was great as well. But I am blown away by this machines capability. Remember - I have the lowest processor and not much ram. I know it's mostly the video card but dang. Awesome gaming machine. Grade: A+
I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone wanting to replace their desktop. I mainly wanted a lappy so when I worked on others peoples comp (just a favor I do for a lot of people) I could have mine right there with me whenever I wanted. Also it is going to be great down at the deercamp while between hunts
.
That's all for now I guess.
