Hi ... I've been reading the forums for about a week now, and actually been looking to purchase a laptop for quite some time now. I was originally thinking of buying an Alienware, but after reading all of the complaints about service and product, I'm trying to avoid going in that direction. I heard about Sager through these forums, never heard about them before, but from the looks of things, everything seems promising. Their laptops seem excellent and everyone is happy with their purchase. The only dilema I have now is what exactly to choose. I am getting this as a desktop replacement, mainly to play games and program with. I was looking at the 8790, but after reading through the forums, I've noticed that many like to go with the new AMD 64 for gaming/programming. So I've also taken a look at the 4750. Only thing is, I don't know which to choose. The spending limit I'm at is around #3500. Right now I am 65% sure of getting the 8790 but only because it offers the 256mb video card and the option for raid (I don't see the option available for the 4750). I'm wondering: will Sager make an AMD laptop that competes with the 8790 (i.e. exact same features but different processor)? Also, would I plan on purchasing this at the end of August ... Does anyone think it will be worthwhile to wait a bit longer, until the end of September? Dell just came out with the 9800, so I'm wondering if Sager plans to do that anytime soon, that or PCI-E? Thanks in advance.

Many are going with the 4750 because it came out a very short time ago, and 70% of the people in these forums prefer AMD. I personally like Intel
. The 4750 does not have the raid and other features that the 8790 has. I do not believe Sager will make a laptop (actually it will be Clevo that does it) that will be an AMD replacement of the 8790 by the end of August. If you wait until the end of August, you MIGHT be able to get the 9800 is a lappy, but PCI Express is pushing it. I would say wait a couple weeks, if there is a 9800 that you like from Sager get it, or else get the 8790. And buy from PC Torque

The universal advice of the forum has been to wait as long as you can and then buy.
I don't see Sager coming out with an AMD equivalent to the 8790 before summer's over tho. We might see the new 3760 coming out by then tho, and that will be worth looking at. pci-e doesn't seem likely before sept, but wait and see, Sager may pull something unexpected.

70% - I don't think so. One completely unscientific survery that may conclude this; however it is flawed.
I think that the "universal advice" of these forums (not just that of the "upsurges" in the last month, or so) is to get what you NEED right now and if you are willing to wait for the"next BEST" thing - do so.
If you are looking to get the 8790 over the other possible selections only based upon the 256Mb 9700 GPU, that may be a faulty reason for doing so.
If you are able to defer a "buy" decision until the end of August/beginning of September, I would do so. There may be other "better" configurations available or "just announced" at this time.
