i hate steam.

after how long?....

I can't even get into the game. I think its a steam defect. I wouldn't return a computer because of a crappy program (steam). I liked it better when they didn't use steam.

alright, then you may have to elevate your laptop. That provided proper ventilation.
:P i was the first to think of that lol but yea its proped up about half an inch off the desk....im not sure if its heat..but thats the only thing that it seems like it could be

mine doesn't overheat, it just crashes. although it works fine in half life. dod keeps saying i'm missing a wad file. then exiting. I really wanted to play dod, but if I can't I have plenty of other games to hold me over until dod 2. make sure you have the resolution for widescreen as well. I woder if i ran it as opengl if it would work better than d3d?
what do you mean by the resolution thing?

Alright I got it to work. I don't have the same problem. It ran very smoothly. In the settings set it to widescreen resolution 1280x800 I think.
running smoothly? ...should i send it back then? :S mannn i sooo dont want to but i hate havin this gay problem
post #212 of 624

It ran perfectly. Very dated graphics. I'm not very good at the game. I am pretty good at Dod though. Its possible that your as3 is too thick or that messed it up. See if it persists in other games. Then you will know if you need to send it back. I would change some settings to see if you can get it to run better.
i guess i'll b trying that 2morrow

how long did you play the game for
and how high did temps get..did ur fans run on full?
Thread Starter
no they didn't run on full. i was playing for about 10 minutes. i quit when the round was over. right now there is some new update so my games are being updated. maybe that will help.
playing right now
in a window
set it to 1280x900? something like that
temps are at 61
its in widescreen mode
colour quality is 32

temps in the room right now are about 28*C......83-84*F??
Thread Starter
well that's kind of a hot room. 61 isn't bad for the gpu. for some reason it works just as hard to on easier graphical games.
61 is the CPU..not the gpu....it is a hot room yea..i just had a restart...it froze...and restarted by itself...is that a sign of heat?...restarted by itself to prevent it from burning up?
mine jus gave me a blue screen.. i came back and it had the BSOD up.. dunno how it happened.. i have a feeling that my vid card overclock had somethin to do with it.. i need a STABLE good overclock speed.. any ideas?
was it doing anything or what?
i was playing CS...somewhat playing..and it crashed on me and restarted itself...G-Ohma where r u?...is that a sign of overheating?
no dude.. it was idle.. im guessing it was at the screen saver (windows 3d screen saver) and thats what would have prob pushed it to overheat.. cuz that damn screen saver DOES use ur vid card hardcore..

then... every time i rebooted it.. it would just crash and restart.. then i turned it off and let it sit.. and turned my overhead fan on (its already cold in here) and it circulated even more air and now its runnin like a charm again but yea dont use that screen saver if u have ur card overclocked.. i just learned the hard way.
