Mayaman2's Big Review of the 4750 - Page 3

i heard a clicking noise coming from the hard drive last night
is it just like what some other users reported about it having to put certain files in certain places and to organize it all and basically optimize the hard drive??

mine's been working fine recently. when i first got it sometimes the fan would go on full blast and the computer would crash, but so far that hasn't happened recently. I figured out how to use the 4 in 1 port. You have to turn the sd card upside down, with the copper contacts facing upward. Then it will fit in the slot. A small portion (didn't measure though) of the card stick out when in the port. The port comes covered with a rubber stopper plugged in.

Again my camera sucks, so this pictures aren't the greatest. And another thing don't leave a memory card in there for say an hour. It gets rather warm in even two minutes. Gary suggest that you prop the notebook up! It really helps with the heat and makes it easier to type! I still would recommend arctic silver since there only seems to be a thermal pad on the cpu.

mayaman did u open it up n check out the heatsink? does yours have some sort of cardboard around it?

actually i have had moments when the fan wasn't on. I think proping it up really makes a difference. It makes it much easier to type as well.

I will also be getting doom 3 when it comes out, so I will test how the 4750 will handle. And game a lot in the process.

Damn...

That one pic you posted of your notebook- talk about a shiny reflective screen. I've read from several posts that this is a good thing more than a bad thing.
I'm excited and I can't wait until tomorrow when I get my 'puter.

Nice write ups- I'll have to make sure to submit my review as well. Unless I missed a post somewhere, I noticed that you said the wireless was poor. Did you have to perform an antenna swap?

I never did a swap. The software that comes installed ez gigabyte i think isn't very useful. I just removed that and reinstalled the wireless with windows disk.

i can't stand these omega drivers 4.6. i did the aquamark with them and got a 11000. what happened to my 29000-32000!?! its back to the official drivers which for some reason ati doesn't have on there site. what's with that.

I did a completely stable clock of 501/273. This seems to a be a good clock setting since I have had it clocked at it for quite some time now. On aquamark I got 30,632. On 3dmark01 I got 13,659. On 3dmark03 I got 3,752.
