I got this laptop from extremenotebooks.com its the same as the sager 4750 but ive been having problems with the wifi and bluetooth. Ive tried using the wireless on both a linksys 802.11b and a netgear 802.11g router with out recieving a signal on either. I am trying to use a logitech mx900 bluetooth mayaman have you had any problems with either of these or has anyone else?

Alright. your wifi may be disconnected The first thing you should do is try to install the wireless again with the include windows xp oem disk. There should be an option for setting up an internet and set that for always on. The wifi should automatically be detected. If it isn't in spookymonster's review there is a link to a thread on the 8790 on how to switch the wireless cable which could improve reception. This is located in the hard drive area which is covered by the smallest removeable part of the bottom case. Good luck with that. Here's a link to the tutorial. http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=20757

see the 3 lights on the LCD? at the bottem the one with the mail light look at that one

press FN+F11 thats to turn on the WIFI the light shud go green when WIFI is on

Press FN+F12 that turns on the Bluetooth the light should be orange when Bluetooth is on

try doing it while next to your router/mouse

if that doesn't work your gonna have to pull out the driver cd for the 4750

open up the sagar book
it tells u exactly how to install the drivers

I'm installing the sp2 for xp. I will let you know how that works when its done.
*edit* it knocked out my wireless connection. Very good improvements in virus guards and such, but I just can't get the internet to work. It says that the lan connection is disconnected. I dunno if this is the card or just something improperly configured. Remember that the internet connection worked before, so I don't think that misconnection stopped it before. I also changed the setting for the sound so it uses all the speakers (I dunno why this isn't initially enabled). WOW! The sound is really loud now! Now it sounds like my desktop.

Alright first battery test. I am using powersaving functions as well. I am browsing and have a few things programs running in the background. And I'm browsing with the wireless internet. I am using sp 1 btw.

My idling temperature are up to 50C on both the hard drive and internal temperature. But dip down to 40 when the fan comes on. The harddrive remains 50 C. The processor is running at 800 mhz, and I can't get over how quiet this computer is! I started my battery test at 3:00 on the dot, its 3:22 now. I have 81 % battery left. Mobile meter isn't showing my discharge reading.

are you running a "as long as possible" battery test?
screen dimmed?
surfing/office only?

yep.
can't wait
If you get more than 2hr that bodes well for the 3790, but also puts the 4750 back in contention for me... hmmm...

I am not going to give up that easily. Honestly I just want to see how long it will hold out. I really doubt that I will be using it this way that much, since I like to game, and that means powersource. Every so often the fan comes on and cools the internal temps down to 41 C. If you can't stand heat I wouldn't advise going with the 4750. Although I have found ways to make it much more tolerable.
the 4750 is troublesome due to heat/size/life.
I really like the machine but I will be needing to use it in class and at school, and I'd like the option of not having to sit in the back where I can find plugs.

Size, its great. Not sure about battery life yet. Since my battery still has 65% left. It gets hotter when on the battery. If heat is a deal for you could always stick a mobile processor in there. Then you might even get 3 hours battery life. I may do that eventually since it uses less wattage.
