Alright its still trucking after an hour. HDD temps up to 53C. I have 43% left.

The problem with sticking in a mobile is that I don't want the added expense of buying another chip.
Doing that is like buying the Ferrari. It costs $2000 upfront, then you need to buy $350 of components to make it worthwhile, and you can't sell the old ones 'cus the new ones void the warranty. :argh:

I don't think replacing a cpu would void the warranty. You would have to read the phillips or warrantech warranty on that one.

still annoying tho. The 4750 is already $200 more than the 3790, and it will be even more if I buy a mobile and eBay the original... I don't like unnecessary expenses.

it comes with an svideo output. Does the 3790 have that? A serial, parallel, and ps2 port? wan and lan?
dunno the specifics, but of all the ports I need they both have 'em all.
neither one has a DVI-out connector, but I will buy a VGA->HDTV thing from ATI.

I would hope to see a price drop on the 3000/3200/3400 at whichever resellers are stocking the 3700...

Alright it beeped at me really loudly so I stopped the test. 1 hour 43 minutes. I bet I could break that. I still had 7% left, windows xp is to conservative. Damn there was a maximum battery setting. I should have used that. I used the laptop one. I wonder how long that would have last. Once its charge I guess I will test that.
1h43 trying to make it last is a little short for me
the 3790 *should* get 2h30 under the same conditions... and I can get the 12-cell...

Like I said, I didn't use the max battery setting and it wasn't fully drained. I almost crapped my pants when it beeped at me though. Sheesh that was loud! I don't quite understand what that means mallow, but I loved Super Mario RPG!

say, how good is the 4750 with regards to video/audio editing for stuff like recording live TV, etc?

i don't have the tv adapter, but It is good for graphical design. The screen is amazing. It really has to be seen first hand to experience it. As for processing power it has that in spades. I installed openoffice.org today and that used to take a long time to load on my 500 mhz amd. This one loads instantly, and doesn't break a sweat. As for sound quality its very good. Especially once configured properly. I haven't had a chance to work with video editing software yet, but I would think that this processor could easily handle it.

As long as it's much much much much much faster than this old 2.0GHz P4 laptop I'm using, I'll be very happy. I am planning on getting a newer laptop to replace that old hand-me-down one.
