Oh don't worry about that, it will destroy that laptop. Although its only clocked at 2.2 ghz it performs equal to a 3400 northword and sometime better even than the expensive edition as well.

Games wise i know AMD64 will kick my old lappy out the door, but I heard it isn't so good with apps like video/audio editing when compared to intel. Is this true, false, an exaggeration?

Again I can't tell you since I haven't got to use those programs yet. But according to the test it didn't fare to badly either in those catergories. It will still outperform a 2.0 p4 in video editing.

Actually AMD64 has MUCH faster render times, when using video editing and graphic design software.

Link to this? Even if it doesn't best the p4. I still love my laptop. The sound and lcd are almost worth the price alone! The 4750 isn't for everybody, but I think it has enough room to make it widely attractive for potential buyers. If the bios allows the low voltage chip to be used, I think i may throw one of those in there. They I could keep the gpu permanently overclocked! And i would probably get 3:30 or more of battery life!

I found this: http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_cont...id=gmso&page=8

But that doesn't really show that AMD64 is better than Intel in video editing. It's pretty close, I guess. Difference/cost is a ratio I don't know.

I was carrying this around earlier today, for me its highly portable. My desktop lcd is like 15 pounds. I'm used to monitor that were 40 pounds, and desktops which could weigh more.

Alright I'm back from my trip to MASS. I had my sager up there but sadly there wasn't any wifi in the hotels I stayed at. So I mainly played doom 3 and watch robocop. There was a one inch border around the movie frame at full screen mode, I may have to use another dvd player other than win dvd. As for weight, it wasn't that bad. It was a little heavy with all the dvd's and games I took up, but it was still lighter than my suitcase!

I think it's probably the dimensions of the movie. I tried it with my friend's widescreen LCD TV. There's 2 widescreen formats, 1:85:1 and some other one, i think it was 2:35:1. So some widescreen movies have that bar and some don't. It apparently depends on the screen.

I wonder if an animorphic movie (I think that's the term) such as terminator 2 or nightmare on elm street would take advantage of the screen better. I did get to compare the screen to a television screen, and my parents (not tech freaks) noticed the difference in quality. Viewing angles weren't really an issue so they could see it from the other bed in the room!

I would guess if it were anamorphic, it'll probably have some type of distortion or stretching/compacting. Say, I was wondering, how long does it take to open Adobe programs (acrobat, photoshop) on the 4750 and convert files? Currently, the laptop I'm running (a 2.0Ghz) takes about 8-10 minutes to load up. On my 3.0 PC at home about less than a minute.

I haven't gotten to test that out yet. I got to order those programs soon. School's almost here. Most programs that I have installed so far have dones so quicker than my 2.4 ghz p4. Open office takes less than a second to load. It used to take a minute on my older desktop. Doom 3 loads rather fast, so I would assume that photoshop would run fast as well. Oh yeah, maya ple loads rather quickly and that starts up about the same as photoshop. Gimp does as well, but I have to download that to.

Not bad. Not bad at all. How fast does it boot up?

15-20 seconds? Its real quick, but again I haven't officially timed it. The system is very peppy and can install stuff very quickly. I may just do a sandra test to test some of its power. Is there any other cpu intensive test that I can do?

Hey guys, sorry i'm interrupting you but I have a problem since the day I received my 4750 and it's driving me nuts. I have a mp3 player which I also use as a flash drive. When i connect that to my laptop, it first recognizes the player but then says that there was a problem during installation and it may not work properly. In the device manager it gives code 10 error which is something like decive does not open. I tried everything i could think of, and would appreciate any help..
try taking that question to the 4XXX support forum, you'll get more help there I think. I'm not sure what would be causing your problem tho, you might want to try reinstalling some drivers or seeing what your mp3 player is compatible with.
i already have this thread in the support forum but no one seemed to know the answer, so i decided to ask the 4750 people, in case anyone else have experienced the same problem..
try putting it in the USB 1.1 (the one closest to the DVD drive) and see if that works

I thought they were all usb 2.0 ports and that makes them backward compatible.
for some reason I thought that one of them was 1.1, w/e
