Nope... last review I saw they had artifacts and were slow.

Mayama2: did you get your AS5 yet?
maya do you know where abouts in the lappy the gpu is located? im thinking if you got some as3 or as5 on that it would clock better. im thinking of putting some as3 on my cpu (i dont have as5). i've already removed the sink and everything n seen how its layed out its easy not hard to do or anything just when i did take it off before i didn't have the as3 on me (did all this at work).

Well that sucks. Looks like it'll take some time to get those drivers fine tuned

I'm assuming that the gpu is under the w key area since that's what gets the warmest when gaming. It seems that the highest you can safely clock the memory is 270. I'm not sure about 280 though, but I don't want to do anymore clocking, to give my computer some rest. Sandra is a big test correct? I will try to download that and run that benchmark.

At about the F10/F11 Key.

funny how on the 4750 the gpu is right under the keys you use most for gaming, o well.

Well hopefully as5 will improve that. But there is a nice logitech keyboard that I have been eyeing, which would solve any heat problems.

Hey, if someone decides to use AS5, could you please post a tutorial describing the process (hopefully with pictures too!). Mayaman, when you said that 501/273 was a stable clock was that just for the benchmark time or could i use that setting for gaming for hours?

I think you could go for gaming for hours using that clock. But before you do I would definetly apply as5.

alright i did some mobile meter readings. after playing farcry for 20 minutes i got internal temps of 69 C. at the laptops resting temperature it is 49 C. I'm kind of worried about the internal heat so I might try the as5 if it makes that much of a difference. This is when the processor is set to always on. I figure out why the fan was on all the time. I set it to laptop settings and it went down to 800 mhz really fast! the main fan turned off as well, so its really silent, the fans turn on if you type really fast though. It kind of scared me when it did. The new temperature is 41-44C idling!

While gaming the left palm rest gets really warm. I heard that the hard drive is there, but I don't think it would get that hot. My mobile meter ratings have been stuck around 50 C for the hard drive. So I don't think its that. The fan comes on every 15 minutes or so when just doing mundane tasks or idling.

The HDD is not directly connected to the main cooling system used by the CPU/GPU [Big fan(s)]. It is cooled by venting through the keyboard and surface of the laptop. Remember that a 50C HDD is really 122F - which to most people is very very hot. The small fan does help to provide some air for the Memory Chips and provide a bit of cooling for the HDD; however, it is not much. This condition is also true for the 4780/4790 and the 8790's. Too bad the HDD enclousers weren't "ventilated" better to allow for better heat disipation.

Its generally 50 C but you can't feel it that much. When gaming it makes the left wrist sweat. I forgot to mention but the sound is quite good on this laptop. Its not much worse than my audigy 2 with external speakers on my desktop. Its a decent volume and packs a bass punch.

Mayaman,
The HD is under the left palm rest according to the manual (and my own personal experience opening up the case ). The GPU is roughly around the F10-F11 keys, maybe right above it, judging by how hot the brushed aluminum LED above the keyboard gets.

AS5 on the CPU doesn't seem to make too much of a difference. My AX7 gets roughly 40-44C on max battery save (833Mhz), and as hot as 60C on max performance (2.2Ghz). Once you get the GPU heated up (like in FarCry), you're pushing 70C. However, the fans are more than capable of knocking this back into the 50s within seconds of your exiting the game.

I noticed that I can usually trim 2-3C easily if I prop the back of the unit up about an inch (about the width of a "Dummies Guide to..." book). I guess the extra volume under the intake fans really makes a difference.

But is there anyway to cool the hard drive down? Or should i get a good logitech keyboard and hook it up for gaming.
