Craig's Response To Today's Happenings...

Thread Starter
I just got done reading through the entire forums...as I do everyday except those I am not near a net connect...and read through the infamous "deleted thread" about AW and Video Graphics cards.

I have a few things to share with everyone in no specific order, as they seem to need some addressing judging by many of your posts in said thread...which was quite entertaining to say the least.

Concern: The AW forum mods are somehow connected to Alienware Inc and use this forum to further advance Alienware's marketing initiatives and global marketshare.

Answer: We here at talknotebooks.com are in now way affiliated with Alienware. In fact, this entire forum is owned and administrated by Adam of PCTorque.com, a reseller of Sager Notebooks and a direct competitor of Alienware Computers Inc. The Alienware Mod Squad (SmileyTim, Aurora, Drew, Craig and Booga) are just like you...Alienware owners with too much work and too little time that yet still seem to find a way to lend a hand in helping grow these forums into something the internet had never seen before. Something that a very valuable member, Braingoo, alluded to in that very thread. A place to learn and share information about the Alienware product. Nothing more, nothing less. I truly feel we've accomplished that goal. The future is now up to all of us to act like adults (well, not too much like adults ) and keep things moving in a forward direction. To learn and share. Learn and Share.

Concern: Why did Adam delete our thread?

Answer: Because you're in his house...acting completely out of line. In fact, some of you, not all, but a few, qualify for full blown Jack-Ass awards. Adam pays for the server that serves this forum. Adam pays for the net connection that serves that server that serves these forums. Adam pays for the roof that houses that net connect that serves that server that serves these forums. Its his G'dam right as a man AND as a business owner. If you're neither yet, you will ONE DAY understand. There are legal implications that far reach any of us concerning threads like this. Adam does this out of love...love for computers, gaming, sharing, learning and turning a small profift every now and then to feed his family and pay a few good friends...don't shiet the bed guys. Adam has made it too sweet around here. We all owe him a great debt...think back a few months...did you know as much about laptops before you came here? I, for one, know I've learned an immense amount from his hospitality.

Concern: Craig does not care about the current "Upgradeable GPU" issue. In fact, he is avoiding it like a sniveling Alienware Fanboy.

Answer: This is the one that gets me most...it really chaps my ass to think that anyone who's spent any real time around here can qualify that statement with any merit whatsoever. Am I concerned that I may not have an upgrade? Yes, BUT IT'S NOT BEEN PROVEN YET. Am I concerned that it has taken Alienware a while to come up with a timeframe for a 9700 module for my laptop? Yes, BUT I BELIEVE THEY'RE WORKING ON IT LIKE THEY SAID and I can still play every game I want, beautifully. Do I think there is any truth to the theory that Alienware "Bamboozled" us out of several thousand dollars? Absolutely, positively not. I am in business...sales, marketing, brand managment and creating brand equity are my professional responsibilities in the everyday banter I call my life. You do not get as big as Alienware and effect so much in the Market Segment that THEY CREATED but robbing from little babies (notice use of wording?).

This is a cut throat business that these guys work in. Shrinking margins, overseas manufacturers, vendors keeping the in the dark about product, online sales and scams, shortages of raw materials as well as tech hardware, and not to mention the competition from everyone and thier Uncle Stewy with an internet connection, limited working knowlege of software/hardware and a screwdriver. They will not just come out and tell you what their roadmap is for the next 6 months...SO THEY CAN COMPETE. Again, that's just business...you either know it, or you one day you will.

Concern: Alienware is a big company that doesn't give a rat's patooty about me and my problems. They just wanted my money and have left me out to dry.

Answer: If you really, actually, really, totally, positively believe this statement...stop what you're doing, put down the crackpipe and needles, slowly turn around, place your hands on your upper thighs and remove your head from your ass. Since I've been here, we've had the VP of Marketing, the head of Laptop Development, numerous customer service agents, THE G'DAMN CEO/CO FOUNDER OF THE COMPANY, and a few other Alienware employees come in and make themselves readily available for us. I was thinking about posting specific links to how many times Alienware-JuanG or Alienware-David have stepped in to a thread titled "Alienware is a F($&$& SH*%&#^ Eating Company" and taken that customer from completely enraged to completely satisfied...but I know that there are so many of them, there is NO WAY you have not come across at least a few in just the average day of perusing the forums...well, that is of course unless your head is firmly planted in your keester...but I digress.

In closing...

The Alienwareforums.com forums are hosted by a host...remember to show that host as much respect as you would were you in his very living room sipping Hawaiian Punch on his Pearl White shag carpet. In fact, send a quick email off to Adam@pctorque.com just telling him how much you appreciate these forums. I'm sure less than 1% of us actually have taken the time just to thank him as any cordial adult would. Also take the time to send a quick Private Message the the Alienware folks that seem to come in here at all hours of the day and night just to help us out. We NEVER ONCE solicited them to take part here...NOT ONCE. They're here on their own accord. That is absolutely one of the best examples of above and beyond customer service that I have ever seen...in fact, I used it in a presentation I did for our company a few weeks ago. We're a billion dollar operation that could stand to learn a few things from Alienware.

Please treat everyone, and speak to them, the way you would if they were standing next to you in line at the grocery store. I like to let people voice their opinions around here, heck we as mods really let the spit fly sometimes (because its why this place WORKS), but there are circumstances we need to step back and re-evaluate how our message may come across before we hit the "Submit Message" key...me included.

The Alienwareforum Mods are here for YOU. Let us know how we can make this a better place for everyone. We want to hear it. As mods, we all enjoy what we're doing for these forums but believe me, my beautiful wife that I worship as if she were a god (as she worships me) is in the other room right now wishing I would get the hell off of the computer and spend time with her. But instead, I'm taking time out to tell everyone here that I truly appreciate all the input, good and bad, regarding this website, the Alienware computer and experience, our mod skillz, the forum layout/design, where you can buy the best wooden keyboards online, wtf is a horse doing in Darthbeavis's front yard, what the hell did Natj35 just say???, ect...I love it here and will do all I can to keep the truth in the light and the BS in the back room with the rest of the trash. We're doing the best we possibly can with jobs, family, responsibilities to our communities, ect...this is not as easy as it looks and takes up valuable daylight and nightlight hours. Let's all agree to make it liveable, ok? Ok.

And to finish up with the topic at hand...Let's give AW sometime to keep working on a solution for our laptops. Most of us have a 9600 or better in our machines and for all intents and purposes, can play anything we want...and it looks great. If we need to get he pitchforks out, trust me, I'm the first one in line...its just not that time yet.

I am the wrong guy to bamboozle. Now if you'll excuse me, my wife is calling...peace.

-Craig

Amen brother Craig. Now all of you little immature little whiners can either go back to your b*tching or grow up and become like the rest of us.

P.S. This is yet another reason why I will remain with these forums until and long after I become a mod.

What ever you but pirate you have 9700 and when AW sent you 9600 you were pissed off and cried like a little girl. This topic is about those whom bought their Area-51m 6 months ago who got sold on the upgradeable graphics cards. So if I were you and thank god I an not I would keep my opinions and remarks about this to myself and keep to things like helping people with benchmarks. Maybe if you parents did not buy you this laptop you would have a pitchfork like the rest of us. BTW silver is still cooler that blue.

Good job craig, you just summed everything I wanted to say. Keep the peace bro.
Craig is a great example for all you n00blets who still don't understand how the business world operates. Take his advice and quit complaining about your dream machines. Really, does anyones need anything faster than a 9600 to play any game out right now?

AW will figure out a way to upgrade everyone's card, and if they can't they will compensate everyone somehow or risk losing business. I know I've flamed AW in the past, but they really are a good company. Their laptops are great, but they're not for me, everyone has different tastes.

So ... either do something about this upgrade problem (try to help AW before you try and destroy it) or QUIT YER BITCHIN!

Flaming, trolling, and bashing is for other lesser forums, not this one. If you learned as much as I have from this place, you should share your knowledge instead of squandering it by screaming bloody murder 24/7. This is a helpful, informative sanctuary from the millions of morons out there. Let's keep it that way. Ogre out.

you know it's nice and all that you feel everyone should treat adam like some sort of god because he hosts this forum..... but..... honestly who cares? Stay with me on this one now ok? If he didn't have this... some one else would of course. If anyone charged to be part of a forum... some would pay of course, but most of them... cheap people would go else were.

I looked and this site is hosted some were with in the serverbeach network... so he either rents a server, or just pays for a small hosting account... no big deal. No house envolved :P (Joking here, remember to laugh).

As far as legal goes... if he him self endorced what people were saying, he would be making him self fair game. He should have already put up a disclaimer of some sort saying he is not responsible for users posts.... blah blah blah. So that is a poor excuse, it would have been nice for someone to say hey.... you guys need to not use this forum for that. I would bet some money we would have dropped it on the forum.

I my self will start an AW review site next month, renting a server, having a layout made, buying vb, ect. I'm not going to complain if someone doesn't thank me.... I'm not even going to say anything. I will just have a link for paypal donations or for people to mail in a donation.

You just have to remember people will be pissed for anything misleading. I'll give you a good example but a little extreme. Say I buy a laptop from adams company, I would expect to get something similar to what the site discribes. But say when I get it, it was an old dell... say I called and asked about and was told "oh thats it" or something similar. I would have every right to complain, exteme example yes but you should get my point.

yes, well I have seen countless threads about this and that and how ppl got screwed. I know you all got screwed, and so did I. I think we are better off with "WegotownedbyAlienware.com". Anyone like the idea?

Anyhow, Craig wanted to tell us his shizuff, and I agree with him, this all has to stop. Lets not go crazy on this thread.

I was pissed off and cried like a little girl? No, I called them up and they had one in my hands when I woke up the next morning. This topic is about those of us who purchased our 51m's in the past 3 months and who got sold the same upgradeable cards that may not be produced any more. I will keep giving my opinions and remarks to everyone who will listen to them. Also, my parents didn't buy me this laptop. I bought the damn thing with my own money, and i'll be damned if I take up a pitchfork with immature whiners like you. And blue is still cooler than you

yes, I got the Blue and I love it! Sexiest thing ever!

Like I said in the long thread that got deleted... As long as there is upgrades within the next 2 years... I'll be happy. Right now I just want my new baby to play with . But It doesn't mean I don't like the idea that we might not be able to upgrade like I was lead to believe. But what ever right?

ah yes, what a wonderful life it is... pwning teh noobz... thank you geek
post #14 of 73
yeah, I didn't really care about being able to upgrade my laptop. As long as it could play doom3 n hl2, what more could you want? It'll be cheaper in the long run to build your own desktop in 2 years than to keep upgrading your laptop anyway.
Yeah, it all boils down to how good we are at the game, not how many fps we get. I know some d00ds who can pwn in Quake on craptops that get like 3 fps. now thats l337.
wow, that's hardcore. I'll probably be like that when doom 12 comes out hehe

Good come back the whole blue is cooler than you.
I think you Alien owners need to be thankful for what you have. At least there is a possibilty that you can upgrade, most lappy owners are stuck with what they get. You paid about the same as similar lappies would cost with no upgrade option. Still, I love hearin people whine about 50 fps
post #19 of 73
50 fps is 50 more n00bz owned. But still, we should all just wait and see what is in the future....

I agree the tone and language of the message is not expected from a Moderator.
