Falcon Northwest Laptops - Page 4

Hypersonic CX-5 eqipped as you posted earlier(Plus 3 years accidental damage protection) is $1100 cheaper. Throw the $500 paintjob on and it's $600 cheaper.

Well, I priced out a Velocity Micro CL56, and I wasn't super impressed with the price difference, or the reviews I read about their service (which was mixed lappys/destkops) ... Any other suggestions?

VM CL56 $3200 (Less paintjob, custom painting, dead pixel guarntee, and overnight warranty, case, FNW Support)
FNW CL56 - $4400

Still not sure if it's worth the extra $1200, but a dead pixel or display will cost you around $600... and that one isn't guranteed to have no dead pixels either.

Kind of torn... I've had to RMA a few laptops, no great experiences, but nothing terrible either. Anything else that should influence my decision?

Does FNW include accidental dmg protection in it's "standard" warranty?

I bought the Clevo unit in my sig from a local shop, the one that's employeed me for going on 4 years now. I paid $2,063.00 as configured below. We have a 20% markup, which is standard and this brings the price to $2,475.00. The exact same notebook from Falcon is $3,828.00. They are using the exact same Clevo D870P chassis and motherboard only putting a paintjob on it.

We offer a 3 year warranty and will give you the free overnite for the extra $395.00 that Falcon asks for on the 3 year warranty with free overnite. We keep extra Clevo D870P's instock and also keep everything else instock. Like the hard drives, CPU's and RAM. Philips makes the LCD and warranties them from dead pixels. If we got one in with a dead pixel, we simply return it.

Falcon, Voodoo and Alienware are for the uninformed.

I suggest looking at PC Torque here and getting the same notebook for a grand less.

j-bo, just accept that some people have the money and are willing to throw it at the custom paintjob. if you want it painted but dont want any custom designs, go to hypersonic and save a few hundred bucks. if you dont want any paint at all just get the plain sager from sager themselves or pc-torque. thats really the jist of it.

Sad Mr. Woo, if that is the case, then make your purchase and do not submit to this community for advice only to spurn it.
J-Bo, which reseller do you work for?

excuse me? everyone is speaking their opinions on this, since were talking about buying the same computer from different resellers. i dont see why im less entitled to debate than anyone else here. and i only said i would buy from fnw if i had a large amount of wealth from which to buy from, which unfortunatly i dont.

Sad, I'm not speaking directly to you, only pointing out that the original poster submitted to this community for opinions and upon receiving them was quite dismissive.

Sad, your comment only punctuated the issue that I am speaking to which is the anti-falsificantionist post by the thread originator. Do not take my naming you personally, my point is merely that an individual submitted to this community for comments which suggested he was overpaying for what he could get elsewhere. If he chooses to go with FNW no one will begrudge him that and we will eagerly await his reviews, however, it seems to me that either he was merely plugging FNW or he already had his mind made up...so why post in the first place?

BooST, I was going to suggest looking at hypersonic-pc to do a price comparison (they offer a dead pixel warranty for $49) until I saw that selecting a custom paint job made the delivery time approx. 4 weeks. What is the turnaround for FNW for a system with custom painting?
This thread should just have been deleted when it became apparent that the original poster was either a: just advertising or b: just trying to make himself feel good/brag.

Why after the 4th or 5th post it wasn't just deleted is beyond me...
Total waste of a thread.

ok now your just flat out lying. i just configured the cx5, hypersonics cl56 maxed out with 60/7200 hd, 1024 ram, 2.0 dothan, 4x dvdrw, dead pixel insurance, AND painted for $2,916.00. how you could be getting a price that high is beyond me.
PCTorque offers custom paint jobs as well for sagers. If I had the money I would go with the DR model, since its more powerful. As it is I got the sager 4750, and I know that is more powerful than the TL. Amd 64 as well.

They probably added all that extra stuff like a mouse and keyboard, racing stripe, speakers, headphones, etc.
