OK straight from the horses mouth...as published by PC Gamer this month. All spoken by lead programmer of id.

Low End Setup

1.5ghz P4 or AMD equivalent
512 megs RAM
GeForce Ti 4800 or ATI Radeon 9500

Mid-Range

2.4ghz
1gig RAM
GeForce 5950 or Radeon pro/XT

High End

3.4ghz
2 gig RAM
GeForce 6800 Ultra or Radeon X800 XT

Though he says you can play it a GeForce 4 MX (which is less powerful than the GF3)
with most of the bells and whistles at a decent clip.

Also all the sound mixing is done inside the D3 engine...so it will sound just as good on a low end OEM sound card...or our Audigy 2 NX. (Haha but my 7.1 is going to make the difference.)

There ya go...I know I am going to be at EB when they open...I have a brand new one within walking distance of my house if I really needed to...niiice.

Ahhhh.... The Glory of File-sharing!!!

OK, but please don't turn this into an illegal fire sharing thread. It would only hurt things and this forum. I think it is a bit of a shame that it is available already this way before it is even released.
It also seems that the prices are pretty much the same worldwide. $50-$55

Already bought it

Actually, I picked up a copy of Doom3 from my local Best Buy Friday night after work. I was really shocked it was available, but the manager there said they got the shipment in and the Media guy said there wasn't an associated street date so he was free to sell it.

Damned cool and scary as hell. Run, don't walk, to your local retailer to pick this up asap.

Preordered a month ago. I get the Pinky Pweter figure, whoo hooo.

Spent $400 and bought a BFG 6800GT OC for my desktop.

I can't believe 2gig of Ram-that is just insane-I would prob. have gotten 2gigs in the AW I ordered-if it were 2sticks x 1024mb

I don't want 4x512

yah 2 gigs sounds insanely expensive, especially 2048MB of PC3200 being notebook SODIMMs....

btw this is what I prepare for dinna! Hop on down to your local grocer and find out if they have......

actually this is getting me kinda hungry, I think ill go make me some tuna helper now....

In the software industry, the term "gone gold" means that it's hit a final version and it's ready to be printed and packed up. I think you're thinking of the record industry meaning of the term, which is achieved in that scenario by selling a certain number of units of an album (I think gold is 100,000, platinum is 1,000,000).

yum yum yum, octopus!
Ill try anything once!

Just for your info. Doom 3 does an auto scan for the graphic settings and the settings it automatically gives for my 8790 are 800X600 with High Graphic Setting. From looking at the HardOCP page. This is pretty good. I have not played it yet on my laptop though, only my desktop.

So I haven't really seen any serious opinions from people here who have played. Is this game worth downloading? Otherwise I'm too lazy to do it
