8886/8887 diferences

Hope someone can help me.

I have a sager NP8886 (888E) and purchased a second hand motherboard of Ebay, to upgrade my notebook to 3.06HT, 128MB (supposedly a 888ES). The board won't start, the power adapter just keeps on bleeping at me.

Has anyone got any ideas to the propblem?
Does anyone know the physical differences between the 8886, 8887 motherboards?
Has anyone got the service manuals, or links to the service manuals, as clevo's FTP won't accept anom users!

I do have the Service Manual (and I think it covers both... ) I have an 8887, and the only difference I can recall (off the top-of-my-head) is the video card and integrated wireless...

When I get home tonight, I'll see if I can put it up and temp-host it and post the link here. PM me if I do nothing (which means I've forgotten).

Well, I found the 888Series service manual, and I'm hosting it HERE. I also have the 5600D service manual, for what that's worth (it's not hosted at this time, though).

I'll probably keep it up there for a bit, unless I forget to take it down.

my 888E isn't booting at the moment, so i've got to open it up and try to figure out what's up. myrkat - thanks for hosting the service manual.

i'm curious about what upgrades i can do. can i change the mobo and get a better cpu, as stured is trying to do? i tried cleaning the heatsink, lost a screw and now it won't boot (just tried the cd-rom regularly, which is the 1st boot dev in my bios). since i have to fix the thing, can i do some upgrades at the same time, BIOS or hardware?

stured - how did the mobo install end up?

I still haven't got the mobo working, having to stick with what works, my 8886. I still haven't been able to identify the differences between the two.
