my temps were from always on. right now i'm getting a cool 44 C, it went to as low as 41C. So that's why my fans have been on all the time. Now there off. And the loudest noises is my typing and that's not very loud.
When Y'all are talking about "idle temps" you should also mention the room temperature as that makes a difference on the internal temps reported by mobile meter and other utils. Just a hint - so that apples are compared to apples rather than "Hot Peppers".
there was a little aluminum kind of paper as big as the processor core that was on the thermal pad...i put the as3 on and put the paper thing over the core and put the heatsink back on so im thinking of trying it without the paper
Gary - You are correct in removing that thing and letting the AS5 serve as the "interface" between the CPU/GPU and the Heat Sink. That "extra aluminum thingy" might just cause increased temperatures and reduced thermal transfer with the AS5.
using as3 right now
the first cpu i bought from a company
it was a p4 1.3ghz
before that i had a p 166mhz :P trust me i used that bitch for bout 10 years lol got its life outta it
anyways like i was saying on the p4 1.3GHz i was getting INSANE temps they were just too high i took off the heatsink and saw that they had left a piece of paper over the thermal pad still. after i took the paper off temps dropped like 10 degrees. thats what im thinking this little paper is doing too right now raising the temps too much. Im gonna try and take that paper thing out and turn it on c how it works like that cuz that way the bottem of the heatsink comes in direct contact with the as3. Might go out and buy as5 2morrow as this tube of as3 looks like its ruined it seems watery...
