Cleaning the screen? - Page 2

3M Scotch-Brite High Performance Cleaning Cloths, available almost anywhere, very reasonable and they last nearly for ever. When they get dirty, just toss them in the wash with your whites. I believe they come in 3 packs for under $10. I've had mine at least 5 years so I don't remember, they may be a lot less. Probably are. Like a 3 pack for $5. They'd be worth it if they were $25.

You do not need to use any chemicals or cleansers with them. Not even water. They will not scratch any surface (though if they can pick up stuff that will scratch, which is why to wash them frequently). They are fantastic at taking off oils and fingerprints. You will not get a better clean with anything else and they are safer than anything else as well. Period. Been using them for over 10 years on notebooks without a problem.

I use wet towels specially for that purpose (and glasses/lenses). They are made locally here (called Opti-Co).

Too cheap for all this hi tech stuff. I just spray dollar store windex on a paper towel and THEN clean the screen. Hasn't failed me or bolloxed up my 3 LCD screens( my Sager 4760, Dell C610 and Microtec 17" monitor)
lol pcbunker! I have posted something just like this before. I always use glass plus (windex-alike) sprayed on a paper towel and it works perfectly!

Cleaning the screen is for girls. I let the dust pile up and then draw pictures in it with my finger.

Now, if you press hard enough that picture will be etched in the LCD forever. That way you can always identify it's your laptop, should it be stolen. This is the new-age "Screen Burnin", since the screen won't "inherit" the characstics of the background anymore.
