Joel Johnson from Gizmodo has a review of the Panasonic R3. A small little bugger meant to fit in a leather organizer.

Not a gamer's computer by any means (Pentium-M 1.1GHz, Shared 64MB Video RAM, etc.), but a great computer for those looking for the small and the light.

A few criticisms:

I've been using the R3 for about a month or so now, as a companion to my Apples (which are simply too large for me to tote around while traveling.) The size is great, and so is the battery life (up to 8 hours realistically, though Panny advertises 9.5.)

Where it suffers is in the lack of internal Bluetooth and Firewire (iLink.)

I'd like to use this thing for light video editing when on the go, but my camcorder doesn't have any USB support, so that's out. I end up toting the PB 15" if and when I know I'm going to be editing, which is a hassle.

It isn't a huge frustration, just more of an irritant. Firewire is, as almost anyone will admit, a *standard*. I can't understand why Panasonic (which manufactures Firewire-equipped camcorders) would keep leaving it out of its Toughbooks. Very silly.

Those are the complaints that I have after long-term use. The size makes up for it, of course, but those are the kind of silly things that you run into nowadays with Japanese manufacturers.
