Hey,

i purchased a headset/mic combo set so that i can use this program called "roger wilco" it allows you to talk and hear other people talk that are playing with you like in BF1942 and any other games.

Well im having trouble with people hearing me. I can hear everyone else.

I tried using the internal mic but that didn't work to well so i picked up the headset. Well now that i have the headset the program still isn't working. My mic works i had record stuff to the input is there. My mic isn't on mute or anything like that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

There should be a y-splitter cable that came with your laptop. Plug it into the microphone plug and then plug the microphone plug into this splitter. It should work then (you might have to select Mic2 under "advanced settings" but otherwise it's easy to set up. I had the same problem (although it was for Halflife). If you crank the volume WAY up and then yell really loud into the microphone you can hear it without the splitter, it's just way too quiet.

EDIT: By the way, Roger Wilco is an older voice communiation program. it had irritating noises that is supposed to imitate using walkie-talkies. Basically it's just annoying. A better program would be Ventrilo (http://www.ventrilo.com) I installed it last night. You have to download both the client and the server, but you can set up the server and then join it yourself. Then all your buddies join it and you have full-duplex communication (and it's VERY high quality, my brother and I chatted last night for over 2 hours and it was just like a phone-line (if not better).

tyranous,

i have the "y cable splitter", but the mic jack that came with my headset doesn't quite fit well in either jack. I will try and play around with it and see which one actually works.

wish me luck

Hmmm...I agree roger is older technology...may I suggest teamspeak2? I use it for Planteside with all of our outfit members and its probably the best free program you can use...its pretty good considering theres always about 25 of us on it at any given time. Also the internal mic was no good for you? I was using it earlier today with Planetside's in game voice chat and everyone heard me fine they said. Check your settings in windows and I would suggest trying different settings...more often than not its simple trial and error.

Yeah, I know the plugon the y-splitter is a little odd-shaped but the mic should fit it (it's a standard size), just try plugging it in to both and see which one works (one should or you might have other problems). Make sure that you don't have your mic muted and that the volume is turned up (I turn it to max for most usage) and you might need to put a check in "microphone 2" under advanced settings.....let us know if that doesn't work.

yup its working pretty good. I didn't think that i had to push in the thing so hard for it to work, but it went in and its okay now.

Will mention those other voice chat programs to the rest of the group to see what they say, we may start using a new program. Are those programs for free too ventrilo and teamspeak free?

well thanks a bunch.
