Acer Ferrari 3200 vs Asus M6N vs Hypersonic Compal CL56

Have much reading on the web and research, I've made my decision to go with Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop.

See link: www.smilepak.com/notebook.htm

I've did a small comparison so you could see.

In summary, the Acer got great looks and best bang for the bucks. It comes with a new AMD Mobile 64 process which is ready to use XP SP2 virus protection feature. It comes with a cool matching design and color of optical mouse. It offer more ports. It comes standard with WinXP and DVD/RW drives. If matching up feature it has on another laptop, it is at least $300 cheaper

I'll do a review on the laptop when I get it

I feel your comparison was quite biased based on the fact that those prices are not realistic if you build it yourself, and you didnt not include battery life.

Yeah, one flaw of the Acer is the battery life is shorter than Compal.

I chose the Hypersonic because they offered custom paint job and acer had a paintjob on it. So I priced the Hypersonic with the custom paint job.

Also forgot to mention, it got BLUETOOTH builtin

The Acer is a colored case. Adding $400 to the hypersonic to make it the same color? Thats just dumb. Take off the paint, square up the hard drives, and order from someone who you would actually order from (cheaper).

Exact config you have listed without the paint - 1800 at DL. If you want to rationalize to make yourself feel better about your purchase go ahead. But your comparison sheet is pretty worthless.

His specs are pretty legit. The Acer is suppose to have the same automotive paint finish as a real Ferrari. So if you want that on a Compal it is $400 extra.
As for looks, i still give it to the Ferrari even if you do give the Compal a paint job.

Hypersonic does have a burn in process and they do use Artic Silver so that's bonus.

Depending on how mobile you are battery life can either be a non issue or a defining characteristic of your notebook.

The Ferrari's slot drive if very slick BUT it is built into the case. If it breaks you have to RMA the whole notebook back. Also you won't be able to upgrade it with a new module in the future.

I think the Acer and Compal are very good notebooks, close in the running. It's juse preference on which one you think is better.

I choose the paint addition because to me looks is also important, that is one reason why I like the Acer Ferrari. The only other laptop I would consider compariable look would be alienware colored laptop series.

Yeah, I just saw it in one of the post. Nice laptop! How is the battery life of it anyhow?

under extras, the cl56 has a SD card reader. battery life should definitely be a consideration. and i would also rethink your choice of reseller for the cl56. your config with 7200 rpm hdd and minus dvd and paint will run you $1600 or $2200 with paint at other places. just reccomendation if money is important to you.

What you should do is jack up the price of the Ferrari to have it painted CL56 Blue. Naw, if looks are your thing the Ferrari is your laptop.

Not good at all. Though I'm going to get it with the LV & that should give me around 3hrs. Rather have 3 on an A64 than 4.5 on a P-M..

Hmm, You mean the battery on it is even worst then Ferrari? Hehhe I guess because Ferrari uses the 35wh vs the standard 65
post #18 of 18
Yep well that's why I'm getting the Uniwill & putting the 35W version in it..
