Smart Link modem drivers

Hi there, I have an 8890 and the 56k Smart Link modem that comes with it.

After being on a high speed wireless connection I decided to update my modem drivers, and when I went back to dialup I noticed numerous blue screens, mostly stop errors and so on, that varied from firewall to firewall. I thought it was the firewall at first.

I recently went to the site to check the drivers for my modem to see if I had the latest version. I had a version that was higher numbered than the current version!! 3.80 or something, so I did not update for a long time. Recently I just updated (or downgraded, hehe?) to the version that is there now and the blue screens have stopped.

I advise everyone to update their drivers especially if they have a 3.80 something one.

Sorry about being unclear, they're the ones found here. (link might be the same but that's the one that the program gives me)

Quick Note: Windows XP SP2 dosnt like these drivers, at least on my 8790. The service fails right at boot time.

No Problem on my 8887 and I've been running WinXPSP2 since late Friday. This was installing over SP1a and then Slipstream from scratch.

Check your Event log for anything about the SmartlinkService. Let me know if you see anything.

Same here and by the way, the modem on my Sony Vaio is stalled since I installed SP2 as well...
