Acer Laptop battle

Hey there, i've been looking on this forum non-stop and doing a lot of research on websites about the type of laptop i want, and i can't really decide, i know there are tons of threads about this, but i'm starting another one!

the notebooks i've honed in on right now are the acer aspire 2025wlmi and the acer ferrari 3200. both notebooks seem top notch and will more than suit my needs.

what i'm looking for is:
portablility(both are respectfully small)

power(from what i've read they're pretty even), i don't play games too often, but i have a free voucher for hl2 and my brother just bought doom 3, which looks amazing

battery life(i know the centrino in the 2025 beats the ferrari but i've read that the ferrari still gets about 3 when just browsing on the internet, which is decent)

I like that the a64 chips have the powernow software to really help conserve battery life, but i knwo they aren't really any more powerful than the pm 1.8.
I really like the widescreen on the 2025. but with the ferrari you have more freedom to upgrade the processor.

and does anyone with the 2025 actually use the arcade feature? is it nice? worth having? if you watch a dvd with just the arcade, does it use a lot less battery?

i really wish that the ferrari was a wide screen, then i'd probably be sold. any thoughts or opinions? anyone know of any other good laptops that have a a64 processor with a widescreen and decent battery life?...and an amazing paintjob...(j/k)

Thanks in advance

also, i know that there isn't really any super-noticeable benefits for having the 64bit processor yet, and probably not until this computer would be kinda outdated, but messing around with win XP 64 would be kinda cool, and maybe find some other stuff online that could be 64 bit? who knows?

I think the Ferrari got a better video than the 2025?

On the contrary, the 64 bit processors outperform 32 bit processors time and time again. In fact, one nail in Intel's coffin is the performance of the Athlon 64s for Doom 3. From AnandTech The Athlon 64 3000+ performs equally to a Pentium 4 EE, which is easily $400 more expensive. The difference is indeed noticeable.

I'm a bit of an AMD A64 fanboy when it comes to desktop systems but I have been 100% impressed with my little 1.5GHz Dothan notebook. I would love to try a 2.0GHz Dothan in a desktop environment(ie. use some phase-change cooling on it to see what it's peak performance is). My best A64 runs 2.82GHz 24/7 and it's a brute.

I sure wish Intel didn't waste so much time on the "MHz war".

The Acer Ferrari 3200's low-power Mobile Athlon 64 2800+ smokes the P-M 1.8GHz performance wise, especially in games no doubt about it (Doom3 runs real smooth). The only P-M that comes close are the 2.0GHz, but you have to pay through the nose for it too.
