I hate tax!

I ordered a 4790 and it shipped a week after ordering, but since I wanted to save money by not having to pay taxes, it has to be shipping to PCT first. To waste a little time while waiting, I made this little grafic that shows where the laptop starts...where it goes; and the black arrow is where it could've gone for an additional $160

Might as well hammer a banana for good luck and no dead pixels.

They really do ship to fl?
When I ordered my 8790 with the fastest shipping available it came super fast, i don't think it went to FL at all.

Friday after 5pm I decided to place an order.

Monday I got processing request, later that afternoon I got a shipping notification and a tracking number.

Tuesday Morning at around 11am I got my lappy from UPS, I was amazed they came in the morning. UPS usually arrives in the late afternoon, must have been a priority thing?

how is that possible to have it shipped to PCT first to aviod taxes?

Only if you live in California do they ship to Florida (that is if you ordered from PC Torque).

Don't forget, there is a new instruction in the California State tax forms as of last year, that asks you to report all out of state purchases including those made over the Internet, so that you can pay the sales tax.

Indeed, according to the tax laws, you are still supposed to pay sales tax, even when you buy things out of state...it is just not up to the merchant to handle it for you if they are not in the same state as you.

Thanks

Photoshop

Can't wait to see how fast photoshop runs on the new laptop. Right now i'm on a 1.2Ghz Athlon system so a 3.0Ghz P4 HT should be a little quicker.

Very few people will do this, no way to track internet purchases.

That's cute, but don't forget that state tax pays for roads, and policemen and firemen and stuff like that. No, it's not being used efficiently. Yes, it could all be better. But it all contributes to the relatively organized and safe environment you live in. Without the tax and the government it funds there wouldn't be enough civility and organization for luxuries like sitting back in your chair and ordering a bad-ass laptop over the internet and having it delivered to your door by your friendly neighborhood UPS man.

Of course, there was (and still is) a law on the books that would require PC Torque to charge & pay the taxes, too, but it's hard to enforce California law in Florida... the "Honesty Test" on the tax form is a result of the bone-heads in CA realizing ain't no one gonna pay them.

Heck, I've ordered stuff from FL and it's drop-shipped out of LA and no tax. mums the word for me!

Yah Taxes suck.....
I hate how they leave it up to you to figure how much you owe the governmet or state governmet. If they wanted their money so bad they would do all that for you and tell you how much you owe them. But then again I wouldn't want them to make a mistake and end up owing them allot.

Actually the UPS guy that comes to our office is really cool. I don't know about the others, like the one that left my harddrive in the bushes where the automatic water sprinklers tested it for water solubility.

I have a quarter mile long driveway and my ups guy left my sager box on the top of my mailbox at the end of it! What the hell!!! I don't think much of him at all.

Awwwww poor Phelptwan hehe Really though they shouldn't leave equipment outside in the natural environment because anything is possible. Now if they don't know what it is for the most part I understand.

Cal UPS and ask them why you package wasn't delivered. It should have required a signature. Or - maybe "post" signed for it.

I don't make the minimum income that is required to file taxes; I'll be a full time student this fall in college. Anyone who works for the IRS and visits this forum would be too cool to bust me

Edit: The shipping is pretty FAST!

Sager sent it off last night and it's in Orlando FL as of 3PM EST. Too bad I'm having it sent ground back to california.

That should be 8-10 Days.

I called UPS and complained already and they told me some crap about me or my parents signing for packages to be dropped off. They told me it wouldn't happen again. Sure as hell wont last time I use UPS. Sorry to crap on your thread m1chaelmichael.
