OK guys...need some help over here...

http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=...cat=83&scat=84

Anyone have any opinions on this camera? Also - it says you can use between 8 and 256MB CF cards for memory. Does this mean I cannot use 512MB and 1GB CF cards??

Anyone have this camera already? Mine is on order and I havent yet ordered decent batteries/ additional memory so any input is welcome...

Thanks!!

I have this camera, it's great for this price range. But if you plan to take a picture at 3.2MP, then the picture is not as clear as G3 or S400 because A70 use a smaller CCD sensor....but the picture at 2.0MP is awesome.
I love it the way it is... it's not too big as G3 and not too small as S series... and it has all the manual control you ever want.

I've used one before and I think it IS very good. Just that some of those ebay deals are so mouth watering

Also look at www.fatwallet.com and they gave a few deals but most of em were already out

Aah well...bestbuy.com hsa the best deal at the moment but they are out of stock on the A70 - BUMMER!!

Actually they are out of stock on a lot of cameras...I found it quite difficult to find one that I could actually order...

I have a Sony P-10 digital camera on pre-order now. It should be released the first week of June . Cost 499.95 and is 5.0 megapixels. It is also probably the smallest digital camera of its caliber available, being that it is 5.0 megapixels.

Check out sonystyle.com under Cyber-shot cameras

If you don't like Sony for whatever reason then this isn't for you, but for the money you are spending this is a fantastic buy.

aah crap!

I just ordered my Canon Powershot A-70

It seems fairly decent though...I will save up for a 8.0MP when it comes out...or maybe even a 11.0MP which is supposed to be on par with normal Film in terms of resolution

Will make some more reviews after getting the camera...gonna take this 5660 baby apart!!

I have the option of getting either an A70 or a G2...I have ordered one of each but now I have to decide which one is going to head back home...

Does anyone have any advice on this point? Which would you get if you could afford both the A70 and the more expensive G2? Is the new Digic processor worth scrapping the G2 and taking the lower Megapixel A70??

I have until Monday to decide so your feedback will be very helpful in making a choice between the two. Expecting delivery on Friday (6th)

It's all depended..... If you have enough budget for G2 and don't mind to carry a big camera then G2 is the way to go.
I choose A70 because when I'm traveling, I don't want to carry something too big with me and A70 have all the features I ever want for now.
One more things, if you are planing to take a picture at 3.2MP then G2 is better for you.... A70 can take a picture at 3.2MP as well, but the size of the CCD sensor on G2 is bigger than A70 which make the picture at 3.2MP on G2 look sharper and more clear. .... for me I'm always take a picture at 2.0MP on A70 since I have no need for 3.2MP..... too big to view on the screen full size and I don't like to print the big pictures... postcard size is more than enough for me.

Haha, I'm actually getting a Canon Powershop A70 tomorrow night. The question I have for you guys is, if it's not so good at taking pictures at 3.2MP, then should I just get the A60, which is the exact same thing except for less of a digital zoom and only 2MP? It's $100CDN ($75USD) cheaper than the A70.

Im actually gsferrari's roommate and I share his laptop from time to time. We had both decided to get digital cameras but we werent sure who was going to take which one

Is tha fact that the G2 does not have the DIGIC processor a factor to consider when I choose between the A70 and the G2?? I just want to be sure that whey I pay $499 for a digital camera, it totally blasts away a $299 camera...otherwise i'd just get the $299 one...

Basically - does the G2 have the legs on the A70 to justify a $200 bump in the price? Is the G2 outdated because it lacks the new processor and some new iSaps technology and stuff??

I am expecting both on friday and then I have the weekend to fiddle with them, take some pictures and run a head to head but I just want some input from the peeps.

gs wont post anymore...poor guy...I had to stop him from pulling all his posts off the forums.

Well... A70 can take a very good picture at 3.2MP but at the very bright light condition. If the light is not enough or on very cloudy day then the picture from A70 at 3.2MP will not be as clear/sharp as G2 which have bigger size CCD sensor.
Yes, if you are planing to take a picture at only 2.0MP then why pay the extra for A70. you can save lots of money to buy a bigger Flash card instead.

hmmm...

I got the G2 from amazon.com with a free 128MB CF Card by Viking. Besides that I also bought a 256MB CF Card by Viking for $30.00 after rebates...add to this the 32MB Card that comes with the G2 standard and I have quite a lot of cards to account for...

Ok - Overall - the G2 will make better pictures under all conditions with sharper pictures and better resolution than the A70 - EVEN though the A70 has the newer processor and isaps technology...

If the G2 is clearly the better camera then i'll probably stick with it.

Lucky me - I have the opportunity to try out both cameras and see which one I like better...lessee....

FYI: I have the cheaper $250 version of the 'A' line of Cannon Cameras and I love it - its by no means a high-end Camera but for the price it was a great deal.
