Thats just freaking awesome... does everyone quilify for a mobo upgrade I wonder how much it would cost.
Apex is not trying to ruin this for everyone. This is good news but nothing to have a parade about. It will be awsome when you guys get your upgrade to the 9700, but from what AW says i would just hold off for the 9800 upgrade whether u have a 9600 or a 9700 unless you dont want a mobo upgrade and will settle for a less power requiring 9700. This should have been expected of AW. On a side note if they actually develop a mobo upgrade to PCI express it will absolutly blow my mind and I will forever be indebted to ALIENWARE. I will never think twice again about whether I should of invested in an alienware.

Based on how much Notebook as be bitching and stuff, I don't doubt him. I think this is perfectly legit.

I too have no doubt that notebook was told this. However, we'll see if the guy he talked to knows anything about what is really going to happen.

Next month is right around the corner. We can hope cant we?

I told you guys the higher-ups follow these forums. Dont ask me how I know..........

Well guys, I am on my first break and I just looked at your responses...
First off, Apex...do I know you? I have been on these boards for over a year and have never made any misleading statements or lied at any point. If anything, I was the loudest critic of AW. I received this email today and I called AW asked for the gentleman whose name appeared on the message and he was in a meeting. So I called back later and was able to get a hold of him. Is everything he said going to happen or is the truth? I don't know, but I do know that is what someone who is on the critical issues team at the miami office told me. Believe me, if smoke was blown up my a$$ then I will be the first to post his name and info and grab a pitchfork. Believe what you want but I am just telling you what I was told...geez I took time out to let everyone know what I found and this is thanks I get...perhaps next time I will just keep my mouth shut.

PS: Any questions as to what he said let me know? I have some down time...
PPS: I have removed the email portion of my post from AW because I recieved an email telling me that those emails are confidential and not for posting so I apologize to my contact at AW if I caused any problems for him.

It's good news! However it is good to keep some skeptism in mind, Apex isn't trying to ruin everyones time, he is making sure we stay on AW, and I ammend him for sending letters to magazine, it'll just make AW want to work faster...diffuse the situation before their name is scared...

Too bad footpedal_2000 quoted you, so it remains up (unless some certain new MOD would like to help that out).

Thanks notebook_gamer for going out of your way for everyone.

I agree, but for him to accuse ME of making this up...well that is where I draw the line...my reputation on this board speaks for itself. I am just sharing what I was told. Does that mean what I was told is going to be 100%...doubt it. Even my contact told me that as far as the pci-e mobo upgrade, for instance, was deep in R&D but no definitive answer has been established. It might never come to fruition. It was just good to hear that they are aware of all the unhappy customers and they are supposedly doing things to remedy the situation. As for the 9800 he said that they are still in talks and development with ATI and their manufacturer. He said the 9800 as it is now is specifically designed for the XPS and that they are working with ATI to either bridge or use an adapter to bring it to the Area-51m. He said that AW and ATI are working on it, but do not expect it to be right around the corner.

PS: Did I miss something? Who is the new mod? Have I been gone that long?

Light at the end of the tunnel?

Wow, I am VERY impressed that someone from AW would directly address the users of this forum. However, it also makes sense that they are playing some damage control.

This news (if true) puts me in an interesting situation. I'd like to wait for pci-x, but if they are going to offer MOBO upgrades, why wait? I can't wait more than a few months, and now I'm totally lost on what to do....

Question to all: Do you think this information is valid enough to assume there will be mobo upgrades? I'm half-doubting the truthfulness/implementation of such a countermeasure proposed by AW
