DOOM 3, 8790, spontaneous crashing

Ok, or the few minutes that I'm able to run Doom 3, it looks awesome.

I'm running on default settings when it installs and I have 1 gig of ram on my 8790 with plenty of disk space and a huge windows swap file. Has anyone else run into issues where it just quits out of the game with no error message or anything taking you back to your desktop?

I'm running the default video drivers provided when the system was sent to me. Would loading the omega drivers possibliy solve my problem? Which version should I use since I've heard about the issues of version 4.6 and 4.7 drivers.

I would love to get more than about 2 minutes worht of continuous play so any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated so I can ejoy this game to the fullest.

Many thanks

Hmm... I just installed it on my 8790 and I got the same crash you were talking about. I'm running with the Omega's 4.5 drivers because I have video problems with the 4.6 and 4.7. But if putting either of those on solves the random crashes I'll gladly trade. I hate it when you don't even get an error message. It's like "Oops. Here's your desktop."

I am also having this problem on my 8790 using the latest catalyst drivers. Any suggestions/fixes yet? Come on.. I know the Sager community here can fix this easy .

Although I'm a little dismayed about the problem, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

Lets hope we will get some solutions from this community.

Do you guys play the game with the fan on full blast (Fn+F10)? I haven't play Doom3 yet because I'm at work but when i play Call Of Duty without the fan on full blast it does the same thing you guys are suffering.

I installed the latest OMEGA drivers and it hasn't crashed so far... Before that I had the normal drivers from Sager installed and Doom3 was crashing a lot.

hey man i had the same problem you must get the Omega's 4.5 drivers to run the game i installed the omege's drive and doom 3 runs fine.

I just tried with the fans on full blast...still crashed on me.

I will now try the omega 4.5 drivers...wish me luck.

hmm, i installed doom3 on my 8790 yesterday and run it at 1024x768 and high quality and it runs smooth as can be, no crashing, no problems at all. it could be that my omega drivers are not up to date and i am using 4.5 but either way that game rocks on the top

Should we not move up to 4.7 omegas?
Well, it doesn't solve my problem. I'm using the Omega 4.5's, with the fans at full blast, and a cooling pad, but I still get crashes. I'm going to fiddle around more with the resolution and detail that I play at to see if that helps.

I don't like the 4.7's because I get a lot of lag when trying to play any sort of DVD. :/

Omega Woes

What I am doing wrong?

I downloaded and installed the 4.5 omegas (first time I have used them) and now when I open Doom3 it says Loading and then crashes .when the game is first run.

Do I have something not set right?

Well, I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, but I played around with some of the display settings and clock speeds for my video card and now it appears to be operating well. It hasn't crash yet, but then again I don't think I've played it enough yet.

I downloaded the drivers, installed them and BINGO!!! Works perfectly now.

This game is incredible. Now I can enjoy it. Thanks all. 4.5 drivers solved the problem. Perhaps Sager should post them as default drivers for thier notebooks. Back to the game.

Hmmm... There it goes again. The crashes occur just before a door opens for me. Not all, but some.

this may seem like a silly question...but are you sure you installed the drivers? you donwloaded them from the omega site and downloaded 4.5, right?

you just want to dot your I's and cross your T's.

I had my original drivers in when i first installed the game and I could run the game but it crashed at random points while i was playing ... Then i installed the 4.5 and now i can't even get in the game. I can't figure out whats wrong.

uninstall and reinstall the game? I'm reaching now for possible solutions, but it couldn't hurt.

Method, the same problem is occuring to me too. Some doors will cause me to instantly freeze. System doesn't respond to any commands whatsoever and I have to do a hard reboot. I'm using the Omegas based off the 4.5s
