so did they change how much they were charging you? it makes sense now why you're price was soooo much lower. I was freaking when Tamara said $450, and in my head I'm think, damn whack got it for 306? what gives? hehe. So I was happy to get it for under the "list" we expected of $399

just a matter now of when it actually ships out, would love to get it by Saturday as I'm going to a CounterStrike lan party at a friends house Sunday, and it would be great to be able to show off Doom3 a little better. Especially since we'll undoubtably connect my dvi out to his sony projector in his home theatre, and check it out in full 20 speaker (14 surround, 4 12" and 2 15" subs), 14 amp (2 adcom gfa7700 5x175 i think it is, 2 adcom gfa555 1x900@4ohms, and 2 HK pa2000 2x100), 7.1 surround on a 7'2" x 13' screen from a projector that is native 720p, in a pitch black room!!! (oh, with real, actual, theatre seats. same ones they put in the new AMC near us, but without the rocking action, he was afraid the kids would break them too easily)

needless to say he watches too many movies haha

He was right, I did have the wrong part number for the Desktop R9800... That is $306.50. Wrong card tho'. I am on the phone with them correcting the problem right now. Unfortunately this is a free upgrade for me so I might not get a price... Ill try to get the "official" price!

ok, so now it's a race to see who gets the unit first huh I'm almost dreading getting it in, after seeing the pics in the cooling the gpu thread, I'm sure I'm gonna loose a screw or two! doh!

But I can't wait to see how it helps D3. I have my 9700 oc'd to 525 / 310 right now, just played 2.5 hours of D3 at 1024 medium and no issues, no heat problems, etc. Installed the 4.9 betas, did get a little bump from those, also did the cache tweak, that bumped the fps a few as well, and now the timedemo is about 29 fps in 1024, and while playing I'm seeing 60 fps a lot on the fps counter when there are NOT monsters in view.

I might have to go back and try Farcry now see if this helps it stutter less

Maybe when one of you guys get it make a guide for installation? Pics, words, that whole thing. Assuming, of course, you can restrain yourselves from throwing it in, booting up, and going gaming.

Yes big review would be so warmly welcomed. I am going to probably base my choice of laptop on your opinions of the 9800. If it works well in the 9100 I will go Dell if it has big issues I will go elsewhere.

Race huh? I got it yesterday... and I wanted it tomorrow!

Give us a review then...pleeeeasse!

I'm number 3!!!

Can't wait. Doom3 online multi is like watching a slideshow. Hopefully this will improve the experience.

Flanno - Why don't you blaze that trail and let us know?
Hee hee... Blaze a trail..... I would rather blaze a fatty!!! Well the race is ON!!! Who is gonna get it first!!!!
(Dell calls us all tomorrow.... APRIL FOOLS....grrrr...)

Oh and Damaged.... If you got yours in a new system you dont count...

And as far as Ireland goes, do we have an export restriction with you? That is the only stop I could see....

Well I just got off the phone with Christine from Dell parts. Ended up calling 800-433-9511 x62470 after a first failure where they only had the 9700 replacement but was transferred to that number. After a couple times on hold and some looking around, she told me the part was not available and she could not locate C7070. I was like wait, hold on. I got the order number from your order and had her pull it up. She said she could order the part for me now that way, so I said cool put through an order for the same part. Then she tells me the price.. $308!! I was like wait a minute, are you positive this is for C7070 Mobility Radeon 9800 256MB, she said yes. So.. by August 11 I should know and tell you either success or flame that I still somehow got the desktop card.
